The International Business major arms students with the tools to tackle challenges in business while empowering them to contribute and engage in organizations and communities in a global business environment. Program goals are accomplished through an active partnership with the business community while the program continuously enhances the quality and impact of international business education.

The Program in Italian Studies is a modern, forward-looking program that has found a dignified place in the multicultural and interdisciplinary environment of the college, without losing its own identity and integrity. It has been supported by the notion that the relationship between Italy and its hitherto mostly European literary, cultural, linguistic-philosophical and historical contexts is a horizontal one. In this spirit, and as we cross the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, the Italian program has striven to offer the kinds of courses that reflect Italy as part of the mappa mundi and encourages and integrates course work in other languages and disciplines.

The Department of Marketing offers programs of study that prepare students for professional careers in the growing fields of brand management, retailing management, digital marketing, social media, advertising, and personal selling and sales management. Applied projects are interwoven with academic coursework to expose students to a range of current marketing trends and strategies. Original research and creative scholarship among department faculty contribute to improvements in both the theory and practice of marketing. Students are prepared to become effective marketing managers in the customer-centered marketplace of tomorrow.

The department offers thesis and non-thesis options at the master's level. Students may specialize in several areas: telecommunications; digital signal processing; systems and robotics, including control systems and machine vision; electromagnetics and RF, antennas, microwave systems, EMC/EMI and HF RF circuit design; alternative energy systems, including photovoltaic and fuel cell systems; bioengineering; neural networks; and optics and photonics.

Philosophy has a very important role to play in the acquisition of a higher education.  The study of philosophy fosters an appreciation for the most fundamental ideas, questions, and texts that have profoundly shaped our culture.  However, the study of philosophy also lead to the rigorous development of very practical skills, such as critical thinking, clear and precise writing,  analytical skills, persuasive oral communication, and the ability to read and comprehend conceptually challenging texts.  These skills will help students succeed in life and in any career that they choose to pursue after earning their Bachelor's degree.

The Philosophy Department at Florida Atlantic University offers a high quality Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy.  In fact, s everal philosophy majors from Florida Atlantic University have successfully pursued their graduate/professional education at institutions such as Oxford University, Columbia University, Princeton University, The New School Universisty (formerly, The New School for Social Research), SUNY Stony Brook, and SUNY Binghampton.

History majors use the study of the past to make sense of a complicated world; they learn how to think critically, evaluate evidence, and write with clarity and strength. Majors attain skills that prepare them for jobs in a wide variety of fields, as employers look for applicants who have broad interests and backgrounds and analytical and verbal skills-- rather than narrow field specialization.

There is no single path that carries history undergraduates directly to one chosen career, but many ways in which skills learned in the study of the past can be translated into the enterprises of the present. History always involves asking how we can make sense of complex situations... That kind of awareness of the complexity of events is exactly what decision-making in business, government, law, journalism, and other fields often requires.

Economics has become an integral part of our modern society. An understanding of economics is indispensable when it comes to running a successful business, making sense of international events and analyzing government policy. Graduates with a background in economics enjoy a unique advantage in that economics offers a specialized and powerful framework for tackling today’s problems in the increasingly competitive and global economy.

Economics with a Business Economics concentration (ECON-EBUS): This program has the same diverse foundation in core business principles as other majors in the College, but also integrates economics courses in such a way that the student can analyze business problems with the insight that the economics discipline offers.

The Graphic Design Program provides students with the skills to pursue career opportunities in graphic design and visual communication. The overall goal of the program is to sharpen students’ abilities in visual problem solving and translating verbal concepts into visual images, image-making techniques, and graphic techniques that communicate intended messages, moods, and concepts. Graphic design projects include posters, brochures, corporate identity systems, trademarks, books, magazines, and advertisements of all kinds. Courses cover all facets of the visual communication process, from thumbnail sketches to printed pieces. Students are given assignments much like those they would encounter in professional settings. The program is planned to help students balance studies in art history and studio art with studies in graphic design and computer graphics. Through each course in the program, students are encouraged to develop an appreciation of the various philosophical and ideological positions that could affect their design perspectives.

Computer science is the study of computers, computer software, and computational systems including their theory, design, development, and application. Principal areas within computer science include Internet and web programming, mobile system development, data mining, and machine learning, social networks, video game development, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, database systems, programming languages, software engineering, and theory of computing. Computer science incorporates concepts from mathematics, engineering, and psychology.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is a program for students to study computers, computer software, and computation systems including their theory, design, development, and application.
