The Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering offers an extensive Master of Science degree program in Ocean Engineering with the aim of preparing individuals for engineering challenges to working in the ocean environment.

Specialization in specific Ocean Engineering programs is offered through in-depth studies in the areas of Acoustics, Signal processing, Materials and Corrosion, Marine structures, Marine Hydrodynamics and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Either of these two programs, with suitably chosen electives, constitute an excellent background for a wide range of careers, in particular as a systems analyst, mathematics teacher, actuary and statistician.

Management Information Systems (MIS) is a discipline and a profession that brings information and communication technologies to businesses and society. By applying information and communications technologies and systems, MIS solves real business problems and gives competitive advantage to firms. MIS focuses on the concepts and tools necessary for analyzing, designing, planning, developing, and managing organizational information resources.

MIS emphasizes management and looks at applications and technological products as part of a system. MIS graduates have a systems perspective and business processes in mind. They are service oriented and able to communicate client needs to IT staff. They are educated in people skills, project management, and teamwork experience. Although entry level positions are similar to those earned by computer science graduates, MIS graduates are more likely to move into managerial positions overseeing and directing the design and development of systems solutions for companies.

Geomatics is a new term incorporating cutting edge technology in image processing, digital photogrammetry, remote sensing, satellite-based global positioning, geographic information systems, drone based mapping, laser scanning, surveying and digital mapping. In addition, geomatics engineering can involve work in land development, construction surveying, forensic surveying, hydrographic surveying and spatial data analysis.

The Bachelor of Arts program offers a specialization in physics to students desiring a general cultural education. Flexibility in electives also makes it possible to combine a physics major with a concentration in other areas such as acoustics, materials science, oceanography, premedical science, biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or business.

Computer engineering focuses on system, software and hardware aspects of computing, and includes programming and software engineering. Our program’s mission is to promote the study of French language, literature, linguistics, and culture through interdisciplinary pedagogical approaches. Our courses therefore stress the importance of French as a vibrant language with a strong global presence, as they examine the rich variety and ongoing international influence of French and Francophone traditions and civilizations from the Middle Ages to the present, from Europe to the Caribbean (and beyond).
