The Bachelor of Arts with Major in Music is a degree that balances a general study of music with elective coursework in the liberal arts and humanities, providing a well-rounded liberal-arts-based educational experience for students wishing to pursue a variety of academic interests.

Secondary Teacher Education degree programs are offered in partnership with the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. These programs are Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) approved. This state and CAEP approval represents the transferability of teaching credentials from state-to-state. Secondary programs currently approved include the following subject area and grade levels:

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Either of these two programs, with suitably chosen electives, constitute an excellent background for a wide range of careers, in particular as a systems analyst, mathematics teacher, actuary and statistician.

Geomatics is a new term incorporating cutting edge technology in image processing, digital photogrammetry, remote sensing, satellite-based global positioning, geographic information systems, drone based mapping, laser scanning, surveying and digital mapping. In addition, geomatics engineering can involve work in land development, construction surveying, forensic surveying, hydrographic surveying and spatial data analysis.

The Biochemistry B.S. Program is designed for students pursuing careers in biochemistry and related disciplines, such as molecular biology, biophysics, and pharmacology. Additionally, premedical students who wish to pursue a research-oriented curriculum might be interested in this program.

The major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Social Science was designed for students who wish to study broadly in the social sciences rather than concentrate on a particular discipline. The knowledge and intellectual training provided is excellent preparation for careers in government, public service, or law.

We have all become keenly aware of the rising frequency of threats from both man-made and natural disasters that include natural disasters such as Hurricanes Irma and Michael and the Camp fire in California, to terrorist attacks and events such as  September 11, 2001 in New York, the Boston Marathon Bombing, and the Orlando nightclub shooting.

That means a day-in-the-life of a Public Safety professional looks vastly different than it did even a few decades ago, which gives you virtually limitless opportunities to make a real impact. Here’s a quick look at the wide variety of Public Safety careers you could choose to pursue after graduation.

The BPSA degree in the School of Public Administration is ideal for professionals and pre-professionals interested in police, fire, and disaster response practice and administration. The 18 core credit hours and 60 total credit hours provide:

• A professional/ pre-professional degree program for students entering the fields of law enforcement, homeland security, and disaster response;
• Interested students a foundation for continuing in a professionally focused graduate program; and
• An interdisciplinary degree that allows students to combine key areas from several disciplines to graduate with a pre-professional degree.

For Students interested in law enforcement, terrorism-response, administrative application of the law and corrections, we recommended the Law Enforcement & Corrections concentration.

Accounting is renowned as the language and basic tool of business. Every type of business, from private industry, to local, state, and federal public careers, to government, and even academia require accountants. Accountant skills are in demand and they always will be; the job opportunities that exist today are better than ever.

The School of Accounting is selective. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Students who have a high-standing in pre-business courses and/or relevant business experience are preferable to those who do not have such qualifications. Students who have been dismissed from any traditional Accounting program are not eligible for re-admission.

The Master of Science with Major in Information Technology and Management (MSITM) is designed for highly motivated individuals with background in information technology, information systems, data analytics, computer science and related disciplines, and prepares students for engineering and management positions in several areas including software engineering, information technology, database systems, data analytics, data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) offers two concentrations:

1. Advanced Information Technology; and
2. Computer Science Data Analytics

The Hospitality & Tourism Management program prepares students for management positions in multiple segments of the world’s largest service industry. Upon completion, graduates assume various professional roles in a wide variety of industry venues including: resorts, hotels, restaurants, private clubs, meeting and event planning corporations, destination marketing organizations, convention centers, conference centers, cruise lines, casinos, theme parks, auto rental agencies, sports facilities and arenas, spas, entertainment venues and theaters, and vacation ownership or fractional ownership operations.
