The political science program is dedicated to producing wise leaders and responsible citizens. Politics is society in action as it makes choices and shapes priorities. Our students enjoy the chance to witness and participate in local and state government here in Nashville, Tennessee's state capital. The Washington Seminar allows them an inside look at our national policy process and on-site visits to places no tourist goes. Many students use their Global Learning semester abroad to travel and study internationally, which they integrate into our International Affairs major.

We have pledged ourselves to making politics and citizenship accessible to all Lipscomb students. The Great Ideas in Politics general education curriculum serves our students' need to know the ideas and habits of citizenship. Our 39-hour major allows students to finish in three years or to add the political science major to their primary field of study.

The International Affairs major is the perfect way to maximize your semester abroad. Your 12 Global Learning credits will be applied to the major, fulfilling a core part of the coursework for this major. International Affairs integrates your language training, travels, and Lipscomb education. Further courses in political science and history will complement your experiences and broaden your knowledge base.

The world is shrinking and every career has an international facet to be explored. A semester abroad can become a value-added and efficient asset when combined with the International Affairs major. It merges an exciting experience into a scholarly pursuit.

French Teaching: French teaching majors have the opportunity to build language proficiency while also developing expertise in teaching language to others. With a contemporary approach to language instruction, our students learn how to give quality input in the target language (known as Comprehensible Input) and to design activities that require meaningful interaction. We believe teaching is a creative endeavor and we prepare our students for the language and practical demands of the profession.

Perhaps more than ever, there’s a need for reliable news sources throughout our world. Professional storytellers are needed — and we can help you become one. Learn to tell stories as a part of a traditional newsroom, as a freelancer in new environments or as a writer for broadcast, online and print outlets. You will learn how to create documentaries and videos, produce interactive media content, and write in captivating ways.

Our graduates boast a 96 percent placement rate in the field, and that begins here. Our experienced faculty will guide and mentor you, so that you can create experiences tailored to your interests. You will have the opportunity to work for Lumination Network, our in-house, student news organization. Contribute your vision to the world. Learn the foundations and practice of animation, from character design to top-end computer graphics and 3D graphics. At Lipscomb, you'll grow your creative skills under some of the most prominent animators in the U.S., including Tom Bancroft and John Pomeroy. You’ll connect with and learn from experts in Maya software, the industry standard in computer graphics and CGI effects. You’ll even have the option of taking on opportunities in Los Angeles — our department’s Los Angeles internship program as well as a yearly trip to work at an animation studio there.
