The International Year is a 1-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. This program has been specially designed to prepare international students for an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Your International Year program will be a combination of English for Academic Purposes courses to develop your English language skills, and route specific courses. Criminal Justice
This program has two main objectives: to provide an advanced understanding of the criminal justice system and its components and to provide either a concentration of knowledge and application of skills in a specialized subfield of study or a broad exploration of the discipline-based on individual student needs through the selection of disciplinary electives.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will demonstrate an understanding of the operation and purposes of the major components of the criminal justice system (police, courts, and corrections). You’ll also demonstrate the ability to critically analyze the criminal justice system and its aims and objectives. This is a dynamic department with students studying human relationships, analyzing film and television, creating films, practicing public relations, writing for the student newspaper, and instructing others in communication.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll be able to gather, evaluate and synthesize information to build and defend arguments. You’ll also demonstrate communication competence in dyadic, small group and presentational contexts. As part of this degree, you’ll employ discipline-specific knowledge in applied communication situations.

Geographic Information Science
The geographic information science degree programs enable students to apply computing, physical science, and mathematical principles (including multivariate calculus and differential equations) to design and build physical systems to model the Earth. Our students are educated to gather geospatial data via remote sensing and land surveying then convert this data, along with other geospatial data resources, into manageable digital maps and databases for display and analysis.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will be prepared with knowledge and skills for a variety of career paths related to the acquisition, analysis, and management of geospatial data and information. Career paths include education towards advanced degrees and employment in the fields of geomatics and geographic information systems.

Finance
The courses required for a finance major are designed to help students prepare for careers in Corporate Financial Management, Investment Planning, Brokerage, Insurance, Commercial Banking, Real Estate and other similar fields.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of finance and may select finance electives in their area of interest such as insurance, real estate, accounting, or expand their knowledge in investments or financial analysis. You’ll be able to demonstrate knowledge of key finance theories and concepts, and will apply these Finance theories and concepts correctly.

Our program offers performance opportunities via a wide array of ensembles which are open to all university students, including university orchestra, symphonic and concert bands, pep band, jazz band, university singers, Camerata Isla (chamber choir), and Corpus Christi Chorale. Music majors also participate in chamber ensembles including string quartet, various woodwind and brass ensembles, percussion ensemble, guitar ensemble, and more.

An accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, the university offers three undergraduate music degrees to help you reach your career goals: the Bachelor of Arts in Music, the Bachelor of Music leading to Teacher Certification, and the Bachelor of Music in Performance.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music has two tracks: Music Industry Emphasis and Music Studies Emphasis. Students can also choose a general Music Performance minor or a minor in Music Industry, which includes studies in recording technology and music business.

Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of music. You’ll also understand music theory, history, literature, and culture. As part of this degree, you’ll perfect your critical thinking skills when hearing musical sounds.

Biomedical Sciences
The Biomedical Sciences Program offers a degree that prepares students for professional careers related to human or animal health and safety. This program is a unique blend of course work and experiences that gives students a broad conceptual framework while allowing them to focus on applied biomedical sciences.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad conceptual framework while allowing them to focus on applied biomedical sciences, including Forensic Science.

The Master of Science in Professional Counseling (60 semester hours) offers training in three major areas:

• Addictions Counseling
• Clinical Mental Health Counseling
• Marriage, Family, and Couples Counseling

Upon completion of the degree program, students will have met all relevant Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) educational requirements. Students who complete the marriage, couple, and family counseling emphasis will also meet Texas Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) educational requirements. Each students’ personal and professional development is periodically reviewed by faculty. Students who fail to demonstrate basic knowledge, personal skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and/or counseling skills will be asked to seek remediation or may be dismissed from the program.

All counseling programs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs.
