Computer Science
If you enjoy solving problems using computers, and you like to be creative and use your imagination, consider a degree in computer science. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program prepares you for a career in the computer profession, business, or education, while also allowing you to explore other areas of interest. Computer Engineering
We are living in the era of the Internet. Almost any device or issue you can think of (computer networks, cyber security, controls for robotics, telephones, and more) involves computer hardware and software. Devices enhance how we work, play, and communicate. The design, development, and maintenance of devices involves critical teams of hardware and software specialists.

A wide variety of skills and expertise are needed in this area, from traditional hardware design and engineering, to computer programming. The most exciting new area involves bridging the gap between hardware and software to focus on the application of computer systems to real-world problems. Through this program, you will gain the necessary skills to design, build, repair, and maintain this type of equipment and tools used in everyday life.

French Horn
Through weekly privates lessons, and weekly studio classes, you will focus on small ensemble and solo playing. At Hartt, you will receive comprehensive musical training while developing innovative ideas and career ready skills while gaining exposure to nationally and internationally recognized musicians (recent guest artists include Gene Pokorney of CSO, Julie Landsman of The Met, Ray Mase of ABQ.)

Aerospace Engineering

Instrumental Performance - Guitar
In 1968, Hartt graduated its first guitar major and over the years the program has expanded to offer a Master of Music, Graduate Professional Diploma, Doctor of Musical Arts, and Artist Diploma.

At Hartt, you will participate in masterclasses given by world renowned performers. Past guest artists include Oscar Ghiglia, Antigoni Goni, and Andrew York.

Our graduates presently hold or have held guitar positions at various prestigious institutions, including New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, The Longy School of Music, and Oberlin Conservatory.

Our alumni and present students have won or been finalists in the Alirio Diaz International Guitar Competition in Venezuela, Guitar Foundation of America International Guitar Competition, American String Teachers Competition, MTNA competition, and Appalachian State Guitar Competition.

Music Management
When you decide to major in music management, you have the desire to pursue a strong musical and business course of study.  Playing a musical instrument or being a vocalist is required for entrance to the program. This can include classical instruments or classical voice, jazz instruments or voice, or commercial instruments (bass, drums, guitar, keyboard, or voice.)  

You will receive training in music theory, piano and keyboard, and music history, as well as weekly one hour lessons and coaching sessions with teachers in the performance area.  This combined with arts management and business courses give you the career ready skills to enter the industry.

Not only will you participate in music management events, but you also have the opportunity to participate in many of the large ensembles that make up Hartt’s music training program.

Politics and Government
If you are planning a career in law, government, the civil services, politics, journalism, or the nonprofit sector, or policy analysis, our politics and government program gives you the opportunity to explore your interests and get hands-on experience before you graduate.
Politics and government is the study of policy, government, and law giving you an understanding about the processes by which power, authority, influence, control, freedom, wealth, and other political resources are competitively pursued, captured, and distributed. You also study how these become public policies, part of government, and the law.

Environmental Engineering
Environmental engineering focuses on the protection of human health and the environment. Students learn fundamentals related to air, water, and hazardous waste through a range of courses in areas such as water and wastewater treatment, hydrology, watershed management, and environmental regulation. All courses emphasize applied engineering with the appropriate theoretical underpinning. This allows students to understand why a particular approach is typically incorporated into current designs meeting today’s challenges.
