Preparing you for a career you’ll love
TROY’s hospitality management program provides you with courses designed to give you an overview of the industry as well as hands-on learning opportunities. For example, in TROY’s hotel management course, you’ll shadow different areas of local hotels to experience what happens within different departments, and in your restaurant management course, you’ll work in groups to create a restaurant concept that looks at everything from layout and décor to menu design and menu development.

Your course work will also prepare you to work with diverse groups, strengthen your written and oral communication skills as well as your organizational and leadership skills. You’ll also be given opportunities to obtain certifications such as the Cvent Management Certification, which would improve your resume’s competitiveness.

TROY’s American/Latin American history degree gives you the opportunity to study under the instruction of qualified faculty members who are dedicated to help you develop the skills of critical thinking and rigorous research. As you work your way toward earning your degree, you will be exposed to a wide range of Western civilization and U.S. history. You can choose from an array of courses that will take you on a journey through the Old and New South, Jacksonian Era and Colonial America. If war-time America interests you, there are courses on the American Revolution, World War II, Civil, Vietnam and Cold Wars.  

With your focus on Latin America, your courses will include the history of colonial to modern Latin America. Classes in both areas will introduce you to the origins, development and character of the major centers of civilizations and their relationships to one another. Through your courses, you will dive deep into classes that focus on topics such as the study of alcohol and drug use, politics, infectious diseases, gender, religion and more. And, you’ll also experience dynamic teaching models that will help you experience history through gaming, movies and music.

The anthropology major is a part of the Troy University Social Science Department. The program offers a wide variety of courses in cultural anthropology and archaeology. Through the Troy Archaeological Research Center (TUARC), students have the opportunity to participate in field and laboratory research and are often offered opportunities for part-time employment while attending school.

The anthropology major offers students a broad background in the field of anthropology, which includes physical, linguistics, cultural and archaeology anthropology. Our instructors bring field experience from the Near East, Australia and the southeastern United States to the program.
