Many great internship opportunities exist within the field of economics. The Division of Economics and Finance works with several organizations such as the American Institute for Economic Research, the American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute, the Institute for Humane Studies, the Institute for Justice and the Tax Foundation to offer great internship opportunities to students pursuing degrees in economics.

The Division of Economics and Finance is also home to the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. The Johnson Center provides a dynamic and rigorous education program focused on the imperatives of free markets and individual liberty as well as relevant policy research on current and local issues. Students interested in the free enterprise system will enjoy the programs offered by the Johnson Center.

Students with a background in economics will find employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors. Entry level positions in the private sector include marketing research, management consulting, banking, investing and insurance. Government positions include economic forecasting, public policy/legislation analysis and economic impact studies.

Students may also choose to pursue a graduate education. An undergraduate degree in economics is an excellent foundation for graduate study in economics, business, law or public policy.

Whether you decide to pursue this program’s thesis or non-thesis tracks in general criminal justice or security studies, the purpose of TROY’s master’s in criminal justice is to broaden and enhance your ability to understand, analyze and evaluate issues that confront the American criminal justice system. The Biology/Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for careers in the health professions and biotechnology. It is an integral part of the pre-professional program. Students who receive a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biomedical Sciences are well prepared to enter graduate or professional school, begin careers as laboratory technicians or seek employment in the biotechnology industry. 

Students complete a wide variety of courses aimed at providing a thorough understanding of the development, structure, and organization of the cell and are exposed to a wide variety of modern approaches to analyze genetic, molecular, and cellular events.

Specialized courses in Microbial Ecology Applied Genetics, Biochemistry, and Immunology complement the offerings in Biomedical Sciences. The inclusion of lab-based investigations in these courses serves to enhance the students' exposure to state of the art approaches to solving complex problems in biological systems.

Students who choose the Biology/Biomedical Sciences program will have many opportunities for growth outside the classroom. Many research opportunities are available for students to conduct research with faculty mentors using current technology and equipment. Additionally, students are encouraged to join the Department's three student organizations, including: Beta Beta Beta (National Biological Honor Society), The Environmental Club, and Alpha Epsilon Delta (Health Professions Honor Society).

Even in English-speaking countries, such as Great Britain, the United States and Australia, there has been an increase in the number of immigrants coming from non-English speaking countries. This means opportunities to find jobs for ESL teachers are quite promising.

The Troy University School of Accountancy is committed to providing students the accounting education required to enter the accounting profession and to pursue a successful professional career. The Troy University School of Accountancy offers an undergraduate accounting curriculum that provides the foundation for entering the accounting profession in the public, private, or governmental area. An undergraduate degree in accounting will also give you a strong foundation in business-related topics such as marketing, finance, and management. Earning your degree in Accounting gives you flexibility in choosing employment or furthering your education. If you choose immediate employment, you will have the skills to obtain an entry-level position in a public, private, or governmental entity. If you choose to further your education, you will have the coursework necessary to enter graduate programs in accounting such as the Master of Accountancy. As a TROY student, you will have an opportunity to seek a paid internship at one of the many local, regional and national firms or private company businesses and governmental agencies that recruit students from Troy University. The internships generally begin in January and last approximately three months. Importantly, the internship program is part of the accounting curriculum, so participation in the internship program does not delay graduation.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in the recruiting activities sponsored by the School of Accountancy. Our annual Accountancy Day and Meet-the-Firms events provide networking opportunities with Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firms as well as governmental agencies and private company industry representatives. You will have the opportunity to enhance your interview skills through workshops co-sponsored with the Alabama Society of CPAs, Becker CPA Review, and ITAC Solutions. As a TROY student, you may also join the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)—one of the most prestigious professional organizations in the United States—as well as the Alabama Society of CPAs.

 The computer science program provides students with a curriculum in the key domains of computer science at undergraduate and graduate levels. This program offers students the tools and direction to enter the professional Theatre industry, graduate study in Theatre, or work in a related field. Students have the opportunity to explore the broad world of Theatre while discovering and developing their own areas of interest and emphasis, gaining hands-on experience in performance, design, technology, management, playwriting, and advanced academic studies. Students develop résumé and portfolio materials, learn to network with industry professionals, and are encouraged to work professionally through employment opportunities and internships. The rich array of professional quality theatre, musical theatre, and dance productions each year give students a chance to immediately apply what is learned in the classroom, and new works and outreach initiatives allow students to experiment with creating and producing their own work.
