Through TROY's Master of Science in Second Language Instruction (SLI), you can use your baccalaureate degree in English, sociology, education, psychology, journalism, linguistics or any language-related discipline to prepare others to teach secondary languages around the world.

Every day, the United States continues to partner with other countries to develop industry with various non-English speaking nations at home and abroad. Because of this, individuals working in the areas of trade, tourism, media and science are discovering the need to learn a second language as the world continues building its global market place. TROY's SLI program is a 31- to 33-hour program—offered in thesis and non-thesis track options—that focuses on preparing domestic and international students for future careers in second language teaching.

With English considered an international/global language that is a required skill for the majority of the world's professional careers, the demand for English teachers is exceptionally high all around the globe. Even in English-speaking countries, such as Great Britain, the United States and Australia, there has been an increase in the number of immigrants coming from non-English speaking countries. This means opportunities to find jobs for ESL teachers are quite promising.

Economic issues are everywhere. The study of economics explores the choices individuals make when faced with scarcity. The study of economics can be applied to any facet of life. Why are some countries rich and others poor? Why is Social Security short on funding? Why do men and women earn different incomes? Economics addresses these questions.

Many great internship opportunities exist within the field of economics. The Division of Economics and Finance works with several organizations such as the American Institute for Economic Research, the American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute, the Institute for Humane Studies, the Institute for Justice and the Tax Foundation to offer great internship opportunities to students pursuing degrees in economics.

The Division of Economics and Finance is also home to the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. The Johnson Center provides a dynamic and rigorous education program focused on the imperatives of free markets and individual liberty as well as relevant policy research on current and local issues. Students interested in the free enterprise system will enjoy the programs offered by the Johnson Center.

Students with a background in economics will find employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors. Entry level positions in the private sector include marketing research, management consulting, banking, investing and insurance. Government positions include economic forecasting, public policy/legislation analysis and economic impact studies.

Students may also choose to pursue a graduate education. An undergraduate degree in economics is an excellent foundation for graduate study in economics, business, law or public policy.

 The computer science program provides students with a curriculum in the key domains of computer science at undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs provide students with computer science knowledge and skills while preparing them for careers in computer technology and for advanced study in graduate courses. Students in this program have the opportunity to work on individual and team projects that include game design, cell phone apps, web applications, visualizations and more. This program offers students the tools and direction to enter the professional Theatre industry, graduate study in Theatre, or work in a related field. Students have the opportunity to explore the broad world of Theatre while discovering and developing their own areas of interest and emphasis, gaining hands-on experience in performance, design, technology, management, playwriting, and advanced academic studies. Students develop résumé and portfolio materials, learn to network with industry professionals, and are encouraged to work professionally through employment opportunities and internships. The rich array of professional quality theatre, musical theatre, and dance productions each year give students a chance to immediately apply what is learned in the classroom, and new works and outreach initiatives allow students to experiment with creating and producing their own work.

The program is designed to create an integrated academic learning environment for analyzing and resolving challenges in the sport industry. As students move through the program, they learn through a variety of mediums including lectures, seminars and practical experience through event and program execution and design. Students also have the option to complete an internship for career preparation.

This unique program will introduce you to the theoretical foundations and modern laboratory experiments in the area of electronic circuits and devices. However, unlike the curriculum presented to students taking the academic path of a traditional engineer, your curriculum will focus on the foundational aspects of the field in order to prepare you to enter into the electronics hardware industry.

As a student pursuing your bachelor’s in electronics engineering technology, you’ll be taught by knowledgeable and experienced faculty members and given access to modern instrumentation and a wide range of courses. Much of your coursework will put your training into action through engaging lab experiments. Every course the program offers has been designed with real-world application in mind and is led by knowledgeable, seasoned professionals who are excited to impart their understanding and skills to you and your classmates.

The Troy University School of Accountancy is committed to providing students the accounting education required to enter the accounting profession and to pursue a successful professional career. The Troy University School of Accountancy offers an undergraduate accounting curriculum that provides the foundation for entering the accounting profession in the public, private, or governmental area. An undergraduate degree in accounting will also give you a strong foundation in business-related topics such as marketing, finance, and management. Earning your degree in Accounting gives you flexibility in choosing employment or furthering your education. If you choose immediate employment, you will have the skills to obtain an entry-level position in a public, private, or governmental entity. If you choose to further your education, you will have the coursework necessary to enter graduate programs in accounting such as the Master of Accountancy. As a TROY student, you will have an opportunity to seek a paid internship at one of the many local, regional and national firms or private company businesses and governmental agencies that recruit students from Troy University. The internships generally begin in January and last approximately three months. Importantly, the internship program is part of the accounting curriculum, so participation in the internship program does not delay graduation.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in the recruiting activities sponsored by the School of Accountancy. Our annual Accountancy Day and Meet-the-Firms events provide networking opportunities with Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firms as well as governmental agencies and private company industry representatives. You will have the opportunity to enhance your interview skills through workshops co-sponsored with the Alabama Society of CPAs, Becker CPA Review, and ITAC Solutions. As a TROY student, you may also join the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)—one of the most prestigious professional organizations in the United States—as well as the Alabama Society of CPAs.
