Diversity of classes
Throughout your music industry classes at Troy University, you will receive instruction in areas including songwriting, recording studios, music technologies, studio repair, marketing of recorded music, arts management and concert producing. Within your courses, you will learn more about diverse musical traditions from around the globe and gain an understanding of the practices and inter-relationships within the music industry including the areas of retail, recording, distribution, legal aspects, publishing media and employment. You will also study computer-based applications currently used in the music industry for audio production including MIDI sequencing, multi-track recording, audio editing and music notation.

Within your courses, you’ll also have exciting opportunities such to develop, stage and present music concert productions in a variety of performance environments. These events will give you a real-world understanding of artist management, production and equip you with the knowledge of how to develop a show, manage a venue, market an event and manage a show’s booking and touring.

TROY's SLI program is a 31- to 33-hour program—offered in thesis and non-thesis track options—that focuses on preparing domestic and international students for future careers in second language teaching.

The BFA in Dance not only prepares its graduates for a professional performance career, it also offers extensive training in choreography, pedagogy, and artistic direction. The comprehensive major is a competitive program in which students train intensively in the styles of Ballet and Contemporary, in addition, recognizing the evolution occurring in Dance of the 21st century, TROY’s BFA also allows the dancer to focus on the Commercial Dance industry. Upon graduation, the Troy University BFA Dance graduate will be a versatile and viable artist, well prepared for the future of their choice.

The anthropology major is a part of the Troy University Social Science Department. The program offers a wide variety of courses in cultural anthropology and archaeology. Through the Troy Archaeological Research Center (TUARC), students have the opportunity to participate in field and laboratory research and are often offered opportunities for part-time employment while attending school.

The anthropology major offers students a broad background in the field of anthropology, which includes physical, linguistics, cultural and archaeology anthropology. Our instructors bring field experience from the Near East, Australia and the southeastern United States to the program. The program will prepare students to pursue careers in anthropology or to continue their education in anthropology at the graduate level.

 The computer science program provides students with a curriculum in the key domains of computer science at undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs provide students with computer science knowledge and skills while preparing them for careers in computer technology and for advanced study in graduate courses. TROY’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in global business and a concentration in risk management and insurance highlights the importance of risk management within the context of a global business framework. Our program will offer you opportunities to obtain proficiency in risk management and insurance concepts as they are applied to servicing both commercial and personal insurance needs.

As a RMI student, you’ll gain industry-specific knowledge that will make you marketable and well-qualified for jobs in this industry. Our coursework is closely aligned with both the Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) professional designations. You’ll be able to work toward these and other designations while at TROY. Students are given four options to emphasize in this highly rigorous program of study: 2D, 3D, Photography and Digital Studio. Studio art encompasses visual art such as photographs, paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures and ceramics.
