The English program provides a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum designed to prepare students for successful careers in many diverse areas of education, public relations, communications, law, and marketing.  As an English major, you will develop skills to become a critical reader, writer, and thinker through the study of diverse literary genres, writing strategies, and research skills.

Literature
The literature emphasis teaches students to become scholars who can think critically and analyze written, oral, and visual texts in a variety of genres. The focus helps to develop an understanding of the relationship between writer and audience and teaches students to situate texts within relative social, cultural, and historical contexts.

Learn about the relationship between computers and mathematics

An emphasis in mathematics prepares students for careers as computer scientists, mathematical programmers or software engineers. Graduates will serve as the inventors, theorists and researchers that create and troubleshoot new computer technologies and applications. They can also design new programming languages, develop virtual reality environments and advance ideas towards the relationship between computer technologies and humanity.

To complete a Computer Science degree with a Mathematics Emphasis you must complete six mathematics emphasis courses in addition to the computer science core courses.

Business analytics refers to the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for the methodical exploration and investigation of business data. This includes using predictive and prescriptive statistical tools to support decision-making and to gain insight of business performance. There is a growing need in the market for well-rounded graduates who are able to transform data into meaningful information that can be used for strategic decision-making.

The Business Analytics Emphasis provides students with the skills to collect, analyze, understand, and interpret data. It exposes students to a variety of information systems and data through a series of business analytics courses. Students will also be provided with hands-on experience of statistical tools used in the business environment using data provided by industry partners. Our curriculum is designed to support a seamless transition from student to business professional.

Individualized Studies Emphasis
Choose your path.  Decide on 24 semester hours in religious studies and/or philosophy.  Some English courses and permission of the instructor are required.

A major in wellness and health promotion consists of an interdisciplinary program of study in which students will implement health assessments and wellness programs during internships. The degree endeavors to promote scholarly inquiry and cultivate professionals capable of assisting others in developing self-responsibility for their own health and wellness through healthy, active lifestyles. Completion of this degree prepares students for employment in corporate, clinical, or community wellness settings or for the pursuit of graduate study.

Promoting a Healthier Lifestyle
There is a growing need for health professionals who can provide wellness information and exercise instruction to promote a healthier lifestyle. Additionally, there is a need for trained exercise professionals to accommodate the growing number of both adults and children participating in sports and exercise programs.

Education of wellness and exercise is also necessary to teach employees in the workplace the relationship between activity, diet and health and to demonstrate how this can be changed to encourage physical wellness. Health promotion and wellness program supervision is necessary to ensure that injury does not develop and exercise programs are introduced safely.

Health informatics uses the same principle of processing data, but for the purpose of improving healthcare outcomes. The data collected at doctors' offices, clinics, and pharmacies plays a critical role in healthcare reform. The University of Findlay's Master of Science in Health Informatics Program prepares students to take on emerging healthcare roles and to be successful in a fast-growing field. Our program is offered in two formats, which provides our students with the flexibility to fit classes into their busy schedules. The program is offered 100 percent online or in a hybrid format, which is a combination of both online and on-campus courses.

Students can complete the Master of Science in Health Informatics Program in just two years. They also have the option to complete six courses to earn the Certificate in Health Informatics, which can be applied towards the master's degree later.

Exercise science is an interdisciplinary field focused on the study of maintaining and improving the health of patients and clients across the age spectrum. The Exercise Science for Health Professions Program is designed to prepare undergraduate students for entry into a wide variety of disciplines, particularly health professions graduate programs.

The interdisciplinary nature of the program provides a variety of pathways for exercise science students after earning their undergraduate degree.
