The Applied Biomedical Sciences (ABS) degree program provides a high quality education in biomedical and laboratory sciences, preparing its graduates for employment in a broad range of laboratory and research work environments, including industry, government, medical diagnostics, forensics, and more. Graduates of the program are also very well prepared for graduate and professional degree programs, including medicine and related fields.

Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Option - Prepares students for employment in hospital and free-standing clinical/diagnostic and forensic laboratories, as well as biotechnology companies. Students can apply to this option after at least one successful semester in the CS Option.

The Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media at UMass Lowell helps students turn their talent and passion into careers in the diverse and rapidly expanding field of media production. With an interdisciplinary structure and real-world approach, this program offers a rigorous curriculum taught by industry experts. Students can build their skills and explore their interests through a wide range of courses in video, film, sound production, editing, motion graphics, broadcasting and screenwriting.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell offers graduate programs leading to Master of Science (M.S.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. Our students follow a rigorous and well-rounded curriculum that provides a solid science and engineering foundation, with advanced coursework in automation and control, manufacturing process, ergonomics, analytics and operations management. Designed to be multidisciplinary, the program offers students the opportunity to take courses within the Francis College of Engineering, the Kennedy College of Sciences and the Manning School of Business. In addition, students may also pursue minors in areas such as robotics, production and operations management.

The cornerstone of the program is health promotion and disease prevention, rather than on diagnosing and treating illnesses and conditions after they occur.
Public health jobs exist in private industry, organizations, local communities, and state and national settings. Health Sciences - Concentration
This option will provide a strong emphasis on health sciences with flexibility in selecting health science courses and electives under academic advisor guidance. Sufficient elective credits are included in health science coursework to allow students the opportunity to select science courses in an area of their interest within a public health framework. This option not only prepares students to work in the field of public health, but could also be used as a pathway to graduate degrees in various areas of health sciences such as direct entry graduate nursing programs, occupational therapy, and post-graduate professional health programs, including medical school.

Mathematics has long played an integral role in advances in science and technology. And in today’s high-tech, information-based economy, a background in mathematics is a highly valued commodity.

At UMass Lowell, students pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics develop valuable and transferable skills in critical thinking, quantitative analysis and problem solving — skills that are necessary for success in a broad range of fields.

Offered by UMass Lowell’s Department of Mathematical Sciences, this flexible program features a robust curriculum designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the science of mathematics. Topics covered include calculus, physics, discrete structures, applied statistics, propositional logic, methods of proof, relations and functions, applications to computer science and more.

With a concentration in finance in business administration, you will gain:

The Master of Science in Environmental Engineering program at UMass Lowell offers an opportunity to pursue a broad range of interests in the fields of environmental and water resources engineering. The course of study is designed to meet an individual student's interests and career goals. Programs consist of civil engineering courses in

• Water and wastewater treatment,
• Environmental chemistry,
• Hydrology,
• Hydraulics,
• Air pollution control,
• Environmental law and policy,
• And may include courses from allied disciplines such as biological and health sciences, environmental studies, chemistry and work environment.

The curriculum requires a series of courses in basic science and mathematics. These provide a firm understanding of fundamentals, help students develop analytical techniques, and serve as the basis for specialized engineering courses. The curriculum consists of courses that serve as an introduction to engineering, link the basic sciences and engineering, and introduce engineering analysis, synthesis and design. Woven throughout the curriculum are courses in the arts and humanities and the social sciences, which broaden perspectives, maintain and improve communication skills, and expose the engineering students to concepts of values and ethics.

The educational objectives of the Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell are that our alumni will:

Biomedical Engineering graduates shall meet the student outcome requirements of ABET Criterion 3 as follows:

• An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
