As an experienced health care administrator, your career could span the operation of a single department to executive leadership and management positions in which you’re responsible for millions of dollars of facilities and equipment as well as hundreds of employees.

Our undergraduate health care administration program will help you master the basic business principles and tools that you’ll need for effective decision-making when you enter this field: finance, information systems, strategic planning, human resource management and marketing. You’ll also develop strong management and leadership abilities — such as business skills, problem-solving, communication, relationship management, diplomacy, collaboration, teamwork, adaptability, change management and mentoring — that will be essential to your success.

This concentration is designed for the instrumentalist who is admitted by audition to the Institute of Chamber Music at UW-Milwaukee. The major focus of the Institute of Chamber Music is to provide professional training experiences in the performance of chamber repertoire through well-matched chamber ensembles from duos through large chamber ensembles.

The Department of Educational Policy and Community Studies offers a master’s program for educators, community leaders, and those working in community-based organizations. Students deepen their knowledge about urban education and the contexts of urban communities. The program enhances participants’ ability to critically analyze education and processes of community change, and courses focus on the causes of inequality and oppression and explore approaches for fostering change.

In development of metal objects and wearables, our program focuses on qualities unique to Metalsmithing as a craft practice. Students gain an understanding of the discipline, its conditions, possibilities and limitations, while allowing for multiple traditional and experimental processes and approaches.

The MA in Language, Literature, and Translation (MALLT) is an interdisciplinary MA degree program focused on global languages, literatures and translation. With over 50 faculty from five different departments, MALLT offers a flexible program of study tailored to your professional goals. Three departments—French, Italian and Comparative Literature, Foreign Languages and Literature and Translation & Interpreting Studies cooperate in offering this interdepartmental, interdisciplinary master’s program designed for the student who wishes to focus on language, literature, and translation on a cross-cultural basis.

Supply Chain and Operations Management (SCOM) examines the key business processes that take place from "step one" through delivery to the customer. Supply chain management is the integration of all key business processes from original suppliers through end users and provides products, services, and information that add value for customers and other stakeholders. It includes the supply, storage, and movement of materials, information, personnel, equipment, and finished goods within the organization and between the organization and its environment.

The operations function, within the supply chain, relates to the creation of goods and services through efficient and effective use of personnel, material, and machines and includes acquisition of resources, planning of production and inventory levels, scheduling of work assignments, and the control of production and quality. Recent concepts in supply chain and operations management include lean operations, Six Sigma, ERP, and mass customization.

Technology is one of the most important facets in supply chain, and the Lubar program emphasizes information technology management, including enterprise resource planning. Other important components include product development, lean operations, Six Sigma, and mass customization.

Companies in all sectors of the economy - public and private, manufacturing service, health care, retail and others - recruit SCOM graduates to help them identify competitive issues in the supply chain and develop innovative solutions.

The Department of Political Science offers graduate programs of study in political science with concentrations in five fields: American politics; comparative politics; international relations; political theory; and public administration and public policy.

The master’s program is designed to provide students with a basic grounding in the scope and methodology of the discipline, while at the same time allowing maximum flexibility in developing a program of study that will meet students’ career objectives. It is recommended that students preparing themselves for PhD work emphasize empirical theory, quantitative skills and strategies and techniques of conducting research. Students may select coursework to help them prepare for such career fields as governmental service, public and private education, community service, and private industry. In developing an appropriate and coherent program of study, each graduate student works closely with the major professor and committee of advisors.

As technology continues to expand into every field and industry, from the environment to education to politics, the market for skilled hands-on technicians grows increasingly competitive. The Bachelor of Science in Applied Computing was designed to produce graduates who can perform programming, software engineering, graphic applications, networking, and operating systems management in a variety of environments, while at the same time promoting power skills such as business communications, ethics, and project management.

The applied nature of the degree implies that graduates will have the competencies to solve real-world business problems through the application of technology. Its curriculum puts a deeper focus on fundamental computer science, software engineering, tech security issues, computing solutions for business problems, and data management. A poll of industry representatives indicates that they see a skills gap in computer and information technology related positions which the multidisciplinary focus of this degree would fill.

Computer science is the study and design of computer systems, networks, software, and computing techniques. It is a dynamic field with a growing impact on the world today.

The Computer Science BA program is intended to permit students to combine interest in an alternate area (in humanities, arts, the professions or even natural science) with computer science in order to gain skills that increase their desirability with employers. Burning Glass found that adding software development or computer programming skills permits graduates to gain a 30+% salary premium over those without.
