Our program explores both historical and contemporary applications of fine art printmaking. Students are encouraged to focus not only on the image itself, but also how it communicates in the context of its structure and presentation.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre provides intensive specialized coursework for students seeking professional training in one of two separate tracks:

Performance

• The Performance BFA has two 130-credit tracks in either Acting or Musical Theatre.

Production

• The Production BFA is a singular 120-credit track embracing all the areas of production including design, costume, prop, scenery, lighting, sound, and stage management.

The BFA focuses on uncovering the potential of the individual student in the development of personal performance and/or production practices. The BFA curriculum supports student exploration of theatrical processes including new works as well as the established canon of dramatic literature. The program approaches the work in fresh and innovative ways, giving students a wide range of tools to speak to the contemporary moment both as actors on stage and as artists in production studios, rehearsal halls, and backstage.

The MS-Taxation concentration prepares students to provide expert guidance on tax matters to business organizations and individuals. In this highly specialized curriculum, students develop technical competence in current tax laws, the ability to evaluate tax consequences of business and investment decisions, and understanding of the impact of tax policy on the economy and specific industries.

Like all businesses, health care organizations require strong leadership to run smoothly. As an experienced health care administrator, your career could span the operation of a single department to executive leadership and management positions in which you’re responsible for millions of dollars of facilities and equipment as well as hundreds of employees.

Our undergraduate health care administration program will help you master the basic business principles and tools that you’ll need for effective decision-making when you enter this field: finance, information systems, strategic planning, human resource management and marketing. You’ll also develop strong management and leadership abilities — such as business skills, problem-solving, communication, relationship management, diplomacy, collaboration, teamwork, adaptability, change management and mentoring — that will be essential to your success.

Medical laboratory scientists are trained in the theoretical and practical aspects of laboratory medicine, which are critical to the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. Medical Laboratory Science offers a wide variety of career options, including hospitals, clinics, independent laboratories, public health facilities, business, industry, research, sales, and marketing. Students also may use this major to prepare for medical or graduate school. Students successfully completing this program are eligible to sit for a national certification exam offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP-BOC). The UWM Medical Laboratory Science Program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).

The Master of Architecture, the first professional degree offered by the Department of Architecture, is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). The degree program requires two to three years of graduate study, depending on the applicant’s previous academic background and qualifications. It offers a wide range of courses, with particular strengths in the areas of architectural design and integrated practice, ecological/sustainable design, digital design and fabrication, preservation, urban design, and design as a response to the physical, cultural, and social environment.

This concentration is designed primarily for the student with an undergraduate degree in music education or performance who wishes to pursue advanced training in Conducting: Instrumental plus related studies in music performance and allied areas. A student must successfully pass an audition that demonstrates an advanced level of conducting skill to qualify for admission to the program.  Students may also have to pass other audition(s) in performance area(s), depending on their focus.

Our program offers a broad technical and conceptual experience through experimentation with a range of approaches to the medium, from sculptural to functional, and nontraditional to traditional.

This concentration is designed for the person possessing creative talent in acquiring and utilizing the techniques and craft of musical composition through theory, literature and analysis.  We foster development in instrumental, vocal, and electro-acoustic composition, with an emphasis on contemporary and experimental techniques. Interested students should preferably have experience in computer notation, midi applications, theory, literature, and analysis pedagogic areas.

Applicant must submit a portfolio of original compositions which could include CD/DVD/computer software files/midi programs in addition to at least one excerpt and one complete composition in conventional notation or analytical research paper(s) or presentations submitted or presented in a regional or national theory society organization, computer assisted analysis or presentation in such areas as Schenkerian analysis or Spectromorphology in acoustic, electronic or acoustic theory.

Biology is the study of life. Biologists analyze organism functions at the cellular and molecular levels using genetics, biochemistry, and microscopy. They also study interactions between organisms and with the environment by examining behavior, morphology, physiology and genetics. Students can take a broad curriculum within Biological Sciences or focus on specific areas, such as ecology, evolution and behavior, cell and molecular biology, or microbiology. Studies in Biological Sciences have applications across many areas including agriculture, medicine, and the environment. Biological Sciences is a popular choice for students preparing for careers in healthcare, agriculture, natural resources and environmental sciences, food management, bioremediation, as well as the biomedical and biotechnology fields. A degree in Biological Sciences also prepares students for professional careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary science, and education, and graduate studies in the life sciences.
