Classics is the study of the literature, languages, cultures and societies of ancient Greece and Rome. It is one of the oldest of the liberal arts disciplines.

The popularity of movies like 300, Gladiator, and Troy, have renewed students' interest in mythology and the study of classics.

Whether you choose to major in Classics or just take a few classes of interest, students in this field are exposed to the history, literature, art and architecture, archaeology, language, and religion of ancient times. Many classes are in English but some offer the subject matter in its original format of Greek or Latin. Many pre-med majors also find that an introduction to Latin vocabulary serves as an exceptional preparation for medical school where much of the terminology originated from Latin.

What can you do with a Classics major? Classics is an original liberal arts field and is designed to prepare students for any type of profession that emphasizes critical analysis, reading of dense texts, and oral and written communication. Law school is a popular destination after college, though certainly not the only option. A student's career choices after college will be guided by how they applied their coursework to real world applications during college. A student who volunteered and interned in museums and galleries may find work in that industry. A student who obtained work experience during college in library reference may pursue that line of work after graduation. The STEM-Designated MS-Marketing concentration provides knowledge to strategically position an organization—whether consumer or B2B—for competitive advantage, focusing on marketing strategy, marketing research, consumer behavior, and internet marketing. Additional emphasis on international operations delivers the tools needed to understand and overcome the economic, cultural, political, and legal barriers to international marketing.

Computer science is the study and design of computer systems, networks, software, and computing techniques. But more importantly, it is a dynamic field with a growing impact on the world today. A report on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce forecasts 51% of STEM occupations will be computer occupations by 2018.

With over 50 faculty from five different departments, MALLT offers a flexible program of study tailored to your professional goals. Three departments—French, Italian and Comparative Literature, Foreign Languages and Literature and Translation & Interpreting Studies cooperate in offering this interdepartmental, interdisciplinary master’s program designed for the student who wishes to focus on language, literature, and translation on a cross-cultural basis.

The Bachelor of Science in Occupational Science and Technology allows you the chance to pursue a variety of career options. A flexible educational path, combined with a blend of elective courses, and you’ll be prepared to work in different health and human service settings.

You will also be particularly well prepared for further graduate study in Occupational Therapy and other disability related disciplines. Acceptance and completion of the undergraduate program in occupational studies does not guarantee admission into the Master of Occupational Therapy Program.

The Master of Science degree program in Urban Studies provides students with a broad understanding of urban society and trains them in research techniques appropriate to the study of metropolitan communities. The course of study stresses the understanding of social processes and the analysis of social and economic policies affecting cities.

Urban Studies Programs offers two interdisciplinary graduate programs of study that are housed in the College of Letters and Science and led by social science faculty members from the Departments of Africology, Architecture, Criminal Justice, Educational Policy and Community Studies, Geography, History, Political Science, Nonprofit and Public Administration, Public Health, Sociology, and Urban Planning.

The Music, BFA: Music Composition and Technology program fosters development in instrumental, vocal, and electroacoustic composition, with an emphasis on contemporary and experimental techniques.
