The Master of Music in Music Education degree is a professionally oriented program. It is designed to serve music educators from primary to postsecondary levels. Though all courses are pertinent to terminal degree programs, they are equally valuable for students who plan to study at the doctoral level. A variety of program options allows students to design programs that suit their professional goals and take into account their backgrounds and experience.

Program Outcomes

• Be able to perform with a high degree of musicianship, technical security, and artistry.
• Be familiar with a wide range of repertoire appropriate for their instrument or voice.
• Be able to perform in both solo and ensemble settings and be familiar with successful rehearsal techniques appropriate to each setting.
• Be aware of appropriate pedagogical strategies and techniques to enable them to function as studio teachers.
• Acquire a proficiency in current research methods and trends including all forms and technologies available for the study of music.
• Develop the ability to sight-read music of diverse styles and genres, as well as to learn appropriate use of improvisation within historical context.
• Enhance collaborative skills through performance with chamber music (duets, trios, duo-piano, etc.
• Demonstrate (where degree appropriate) ability and proficiency in operatic singing.

The B.S. in physics degree is designed for students who wish to gain a strong foundation in experimental and theoretical physics along with a solid background in mathematics that wish to pursue graduate school in physics or a related field, such as engineering, or directly enter the workforce and a career in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field.

Economics is a social science that studies how people manage resources and how they can make the best use of available resources.  Economics majors learn to make decisions that are vital to the success of government agencies, businesses, and nonprofits.

An economics degree is widely regarded as one of the most versatile of all collegiate majors.  Economics students are well prepared for a wide array of occupations, giving them many career options and tremendous flexibility on the job market.  This versatility is especially valuable in a constantly changing world and is demonstrated by our graduates’ ability to be placed and pursue careers in many occupational fields including economics, government, financial services and banking, marketing and demand forecasting, management, analytics, and supply chain management.  Some graduates pursue graduate studies in economics, business, law, or public administration.

Economics students learn a logical and ordered way of looking at problems faced by individuals, private organizations, government, and society.  The field of economics teaches students critical and analytical skills that are valued by most professions.  Studying economics also exposes students to a broad spectrum of economic and social issues, providing a valuable perspective to their professional and personal lives.

Economics graduates are able to make or help make most of the key administrative decisions that are faced by modern government and business organizations.  Examples include: leading a cultural nonprofit to maximize its community impact; balancing resources for a county’s poverty programs; improving the production efficiency of a small business; or initiate a large company’s effort to identify new markets for its products.

Study from a social scientific perspective how humans create, transmit, receive, and respond to messages. The communication studies program will help you better understand intrapersonal and interpersonal communication. The mass communication program shapens your skills in mediated processes and effects, social media, digital media, and other multimedia processes. Your intellectual, organizational, and social abilities will increase through our new curriculum. These abilities can be applied to a variety of contexts, including interpersonal, organizational, and mediated settings. Your courses will underscore real-world experiences with theoretical frameworks. Your ability to critically think about the world around you cannot be overemphasized. We strive to help you participate in a democratic society as an informed and civically engaged citizen and demonstrate global and multicultural competence.

Management focuses on getting things done. Managers directly support the efforts of other people in business and organizations, including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling activities. Managers focus on achieving the goals of the business or organization while being accountable for performance results.

High-performing managers are good at building working relationships with others. They help co-workers and employees develop skills, foster teamwork, and create a work environment both satisfying for employees while pursuing the business or organization’s goals. Many of our management majors also double major in human resource management or complete the certificate in human resources.

Program Outcomes
When you complete the program, you will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in management. The first two years of the program ground students in the essential, concrete skills needed as business students while the final two years focus on management skills.

Computer engineers’ research, design, create, manufacture, test, and improve computer systems. The focus of this major is on hardware and the integration of hardware and software.

Students who complete the Bachelor of Science in computer engineering will have:

• An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
• An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors

• An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts

Biomedical engineers make some of the most important medical breakthroughs. Become a part of exciting new advances in engineering and medicine.

Biomedical engineering (BME) is a dynamic field and combines traditional engineering approaches with other crucial sciences to advance technology and improve quality of life—you could be working to solve problems in biology, chemistry, or medicine. Specialized areas of BME include bioinstrumentation, biomaterials, biomechanics, medical imaging, orthopedic engineering, and systems physiology.

For students interested in a career in medicine or other post-baccalaureate health professions, biomedical engineering can prepare students with related technical skills and practical applications necessary for success.

International business programs prepare you to work in the global business environment and the challenges such an environment provides. You will be equipped to handle the challenges that happen when people from many different cultures work together. Our students are versed in the options businesses and organizations can use for importing or exporting, gain excellent language skills, and develop high culture competence.

International business students build global leadership skills that allow them to assess the complex problems in global business settings and implement effective and innovative solutions.

Program Outcomes
When you complete the program, you will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in international business. The first two years ground students in the essential, concrete skills needed as business students while the final two years focus on international skills

You can earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a concentration in art and art history through Wright State's Department of Art and Art History. The B.A. is for you if you wish to combine a liberal arts education with studies in art. You can also pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree with concentrations in painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture, if you have decided to pursue a more intense and professional program in studio art.

B.F.A. degrees can be combined with an art education component or allow you to supplement your Fine Arts education with a Graphic Arts certificate from Wright State's Lake Campus. The Graphic Arts Certificate is designed for the art student interested in supplementing the curriculum with graphics-based technology courses. It will increase their knowledge and career potential in a variety of art-related fields. Students will gain hands-on experience through a variety of digital graphics-based software programs. Students may also pursue certificates in graphic design or interior design from Sinclair Community College.

Many graduates of these programs are successful applicants to graduate programs in fine and applied arts and education. Because self-expression and self-learning are the ultimate goals of the B.F.A. program, you are largely responsible for determining the options that best meet your needs and interests.

Program Learning Outcomes:

• Have integrated drawing skills into their aesthetic sensibility.
• Be able to demonstrate an acquaintance with the materials and procedures of five of the studio disciplines taught at Wright State.
• Show proficiency and have an in-depth understanding of at least one studio discipline taught at Wright State.
• Have an understanding of the evolution of art history.
• Have integrated the study of original works of art into their artistic practice.

A degree in economics provides you with a solid foundation for a career in business, government, or nonprofit sector. Economists are vital in helping predict and study responses to changes in policy and the market and our program boasts a placement rate or nearly 100 percent in occupations requiring a master’s degree. You will study research methods and how social factors influence and shape our economy and apply those analytical skills to working in business, government, and nonprofit sectors.

This program develops professional economists who can solve contemporary problems with a unique skill set created by a curriculum that bridges the gap between research and the application of research. Our curriculum stresses applied research using traditional and nontraditional methods and takes advantage of our faculty’s diverse teaching and research activities. You are encouraged to develop and evaluate new approaches to economic problem solving while building the skills to work in business, government, and nonprofit sectors or continue your education.

Program Outcomes
If you complete this program, you will graduate with a Master of Science in Social and Applied Economics. This graduate program equips you to solve contemporary economic problems with a unique set of skills created by a curriculum that combines applied economics with social economics. This program bridges the gap between research and the application of research in business, government, and nonprofit sectors. In this program, you will be encouraged to develop and evaluate new approaches to economic problem solving.
