Focus on design
You will focus intensively on the practice of design itself, developing advanced, specialised techniques for creative and collaborative work. Projects are curated around key sites of urban change locally and globally and engage with the professional and community networks invested in their future. 

You will learn to creatively integrate expertise from related urban disciplines into design proposals, promoting alternative models for future city-building. This program is designed to nurture designers who would like to advance their career and develop innovative approaches to their practice.

On productions there may be many takes to produce the right shot, but it only takes one associate degree to give you the skills you need to build a career in screen and media content production.

This qualification will teach you valuable screen industry skills and knowledge in the key areas of concept development, storytelling, pre-production, production and post-production for single and multi-camera productions.

Throughout the curriculum, there is a strong emphasis on industry knowledge, collaboration, team building, creative application and professionalism. We offer a broad range of classes and screenings, as well as computer lab, location and studio-based exercises and productions.

With access to a range of professional equipment and facilities, you are actively encouraged to develop and produce innovative screen content to industry standard.

The Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Directing) is delivered as part of a sequence, beginning with the Diploma of Screen and Media (Content Creation).

Upon satisfactory completion of the diploma you will be eligible to progress to the advanced diploma.

This advanced diploma gives you the broad base necessary to move ahead in the art, design, screen and media industries. Seize the opportunity to contribute to the diversity of practice in art in public space, where you may explore commissioned or uncommissioned work, and through this, contribute to the evolving practice.

This degree brings together both education and research and encourages active collaboration between art and design practitioners and the community. You will address issues within art in public space that are central to current international cultural debate. You will gain a broad understanding of discourses and practices of public art by examining current definitions of public space, and learning to deal with the challenges that arise from such definitions.
You will explore multiple views of how art is presented and received in the urban context and address questions such as:

• Where are the spaces that enable art to be an active interpretation, rather than decoration, of the city?
• Who should define policies for public culture?
• How can art negotiate the new spaces of the contemporary public sphere, such as the internet?

During your studies, you will build a strong understanding of intercultural, social and political issues and how to address them. You have the opportunity to select a specialisation stream, with three to choose from:

Languages
Develop communication skills that go beyond multilingualism, explore the nature and politics of language, and grow a stronger appreciation for cultures and communities.

Expand on your love of languages and develop the skills to use, translate and interpret language every day, in settings as diverse as policy making, strategic debate, and analytical thinking.

Studying the Master of Translating and Interpreting in the heart of Melbourne, you'll learn how to use communication media to support translating and interpreting, and gain insight into the intersection of theory and practice.

You also have the option to undertake further study in interpreting for community health, medical fields, police and legal contexts, and conferences.

By linking translation technology, ethics, and professional and theoretical studies to practical issues in translating and interpreting, you’ll be prepared for whatever path your interpreting or translating career takes you.

The Bachelor of Design (Animation and Interactive Media) looks at animation in all its forms, from the animated character to motion graphics across linear and interactive environments. Presented in a creative environment, this degree focuses on intellectual investigation and conceptual development.

Upon graduating, you will demonstrate aesthetic and intellectual maturity, as well as strong technical abilities within design, media and art disciplines.
Students and staff enjoy wide national and international acknowledgement, and exhibit in festivals and conferences such as Siggraph, MIAF, LIAF, MILIA and Annecy.

This unique degree provides specialist training in computer-generated design with particular emphasis on game studies and art practice.

You'll study design, narrative, imaging, modelling, 2D and 3D animation, concept art, and game environments.
