This diploma is suitable for those who already have bilingual skills, but have not yet reached the required level of specialised language proficiency for the Advanced Diploma of Interpreting.

Interpreters provide a critical service, helping people to overcome language barriers when accessing community services in areas such as health, education, law, business and travel.

You’ll gain basic transfer skills for interpreting in general conversational settings, learn about professional ethics, and improve language proficiency. You'll develop the skills to conduct transactions, interactions, and negotiations at a functional level.

Students studying spoken language will explore legal and medical terminology, while Auslan interpreting students will learn about health and education terminology.

As a laboratory technician, you’ll be able to conduct tests for pathologists, biochemists, clinical chemists, pharmacologists, veterinarians, microbiologists and bacteriologists. You’ll also be able to apply your knowledge of living systems to work toward solving important issues, such as controlling disease and making the environment safer.

You will provide technical support to scientists working in research, production and testing roles. Under supervision, you’ll get to examine changes in cells and tissues, perform chemical analyses of blood and other body fluids, and assist with research.

In the Master of Artificial Intelligence, you’ll learn to design and implement systems and applications in high-tech facilities, such as our newly developed Artificial Intelligence Lab.

The Master of Artificial Intelligence offers two stream options. In the project stream, you complete an AI postgraduate project and choose two electives from both AI and IT. In the research stream, you complete a research methods module, write a minor thesis, and select two electives.

We have been rated above world standard for our research in the field of AI and Image Processing. This course is among the most specialised in the country, with few other degrees focused on AI theory and applications in today’s climate.
