The Master of Public Health/Master of Health Leadership and Management (Extension) double degree will enable you to specialise in both public health and health management and to develop research skills in health management. You will gain the advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills to undertake population health and health services management roles in government, community and health service settings in Australia and internationally.  This degree also includes a research project which will cultivate your critical thinking and communication skills as you explore contemporary health management issues.

By undertaking this combination of degrees you will come away with a sophisticated understanding of the multidisciplinary knowledge required for public health and health management. This includes epidemiology, biostatistics, social determinants of health, population-targeted health research methods, leadership and workforce management, quality improvement, and the design, implementation and evaluation of health programs and policy. You will acquire the specialised skills needed for health management research and evidence-based professional practice and leadership across a range of contexts.

The Master of Health Leadership and Management (Extension) provides you with advanced disciplinary knowledge and capacities for tackling challenging senior managerial roles in health services in Australia or internationally. The degree is designed to develop judgement-ready, critically reflexive practitioners who can improve health service systems and outcomes.

You will gain a sophisticated understanding across the complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge of health management, including financial and economic management, quality and safety improvement programs, leadership and human resource management, strategic planning and change management, and policy and health program design, implementation and evaluation. Civil engineering involves the design, construction and management of modern infrastructure. Roads, railways, tunnels, buildings, bridges, airports, mines, dams, ports and harbours, water supply and sewerage systems and flood mitigation works are all shaped by civil engineers.

As a civil engineer you’ll construct, manage and maintain infrastructure using mathematics, mechanics, physics and creative problem-solving.

In this degree you’ll be immersed in civil engineering design and research projects, professional engineering practice, engineering and technical management and conduct research towards your thesis project.

You’ll develop a foundation in civil engineering fundamentals and applications. Your education will include structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transport engineering and water engineering, as well as construction and management.

Petroleum Engineers work with oil or gas companies to design, test and implement efficient methods to extract petroleum products from the earth and sea floor. They use their knowledge and skills to make estimations about what is going on thousands of metres below the ground. Petroleum Engineers rely on physical, mathematical and engineering principles to identify and solve problems in exploration, exploitation, drilling and production.

They work closely with other professionals, such as geologists, to locate the dig site, design and build the machines that extract as much oil and gas as possible. They also oversee the removal and processing of the petroleum itself. Petroleum engineers address the economic and management problems associated with the recovery of hydrocarbons and alternative sources of energy from below the Earth’s surface. Petroleum engineers apply practical science to the challenges and problems associated with oil and gas exploration, drilling and petroleum production. In this career you’ll focus on the environment, and how we can meet global energy needs in a long-term, sustainable manner.

In this career you’ll apply knowledge of chemistry, physics, geology and economics to the discovery, development and production of energy and material resources below the Earth’s surface. This knowledge can also be used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and geothermal resources engineering.
