UNSW’s Bachelor of Commerce/Arts is a double degree that will equip you with business experience and expertise, combined with the creativity, analytical and critical thinking skills that come with an arts degree. Both degrees offer flexibility, allowing you to shape your degree to match your ambitions and interests.

The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) has been designed with consultation from industry to set you up for lifelong employability. By combining your BCom with a Bachelor of Arts, you can choose from a diverse range of majors and subjects in the arts, humanities and social sciences. You'll develop an in-depth knowledge and breadth of understanding, gaining the tools to think critically, communicate effectively and conduct independent research.

The UNSW Master of Laws (LLM) is a one-year full-time postgraduate degree that offers you the opportunity to develop an advanced and contemporary understanding of one or more areas of legal study, acquire further expertise and enhance your career prospects.

Chinese and International Business and Economic Law 

International business and economic law has become an integral element of globalisation. It provides the fundamental framework for regulating cross-border activities ranging from trade, investment and finance to treaty negotiations, rulemaking and dispute resolution. As one of the world's largest economies, China is now among the most influential players in using and shaping the international economic law order.  

In this Master of Laws specialisation, you'll acquire advanced knowledge and analytical ability across a broad spectrum of contemporary issues such as:

• The development of international trade and investment rules and policy
• The settlement of trade and investment disputes
• Technological developments and regulation (such as the regulation of digital financial services and e-commerce). 

The Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) is a four-year degree when studied full time, with an integrated honours component.

Becoming a social worker is a genuinely transformative experience. Not only will you be able to significantly change and enhance others’ lives, but you’ll also be actively shaping happier, healthier relationships and communities.

This bachelor’s degree focuses on the very real and very important outcomes of social work – giving you the practical skills to make a difference, with direct guidance from industry professionals and current social workers. You’ll gain experience across diverse human services such as mental health, social work counselling, community work, sociology, psychology, and working with Indigenous communities.

Accreditation
Empower yourself with an education that meets formal accreditation standards. Upon graduation, you’ll meet the benchmarks set by the Australian Association of Social Workers (the professional body for social workers) and be eligible for their membership.

This double degree in mathematics and computer studies makes a valuable combination. While the advanced mathematics (honours) degree focuses on in-depth understanding of pure and applied mathematics, the computer science degree looks at the design, construction and uses of computer systems.

UNSW offers mathematics students advanced facilities combined with innovative teaching. Your mathematics studies will assist with the manipulation of data as well as the development of algorithms in computer science. The advanced mathematics component involves advanced coursework with an honours-level research project.

There are more than seven computer science majors to choose from, including artificial intelligence, database systems, e-commerce, embedded systems, networks, programming languages and security.

This double degree combines specialised knowledge in Engineering with the variety of possibilities available in an Arts degree. The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) will provide you with a solid background in mathematics, natural sciences and computing to give you knowledge and skills in whichever engineering discipline specialisation you choose.

In the Arts component, you’ll choose a major from a range of disciplines within the humanities and social sciences, including languages, arts, history, philosophy and business. You’ll develop transferable skills and in-depth knowledge, and gain the tools to think critically, communicate effectively and conduct independent research.

This intensive program provides a pathway to advanced industry opportunities, whether you have a background in design and media practice or if you wish to enter these fields from other professional backgrounds. Our degree focuses on integrated and multidisciplinary studios that will underpin the development of professional skills, capabilities and confidence needed for leadership and to dynamically support innovation in freelance, project or design, media and technology business contexts.

Studio-based courses enable you to focus on a specific area of design and digital media practice or put together a suite of courses from across design, material practice and digital media.

The Bachelor of Science (International) focuses on a science major as well as cross-cultural skills, knowledge and understanding. It includes study overseas at a UNSW partner university and you'll receive financial assistance to help fund your exchange.

The wide range of majors available from UNSW Science will give you a solid education in scientific theory, methods and research. A minor in a language and electives covering cultural studies, international business, development studies and globalisation will prepare you for a science career in a global environment.

This double degree is for students who want to pursue a career in the related disciplines of materials engineering and chemical engineering. Where materials scientists concern themselves mainly with the underlying science of high-performance materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers and composites, chemical engineers focus on turning raw materials into useful, marketable products from fertilisers, drugs and plastics, to paper, paint and food. By studying both degrees, you will learn foundational theory and practical skills that will put you at the forefront of development and innovation.

Biotechnology takes our understanding of cell biology and chemistry to create a range of products and solutions to problems in medicine, food and energy. The Bachelor of Biotechnology (Honours) includes fundamental teaching in the life sciences, explores current trends and issues in the industry and tackles key focus areas including synthetic biology, bioprocessing, medical applications and commercialisation. It also incorporates a research-based honours year, providing you with greater experience and confidence in the practice of scientific methods.

• Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities
• At UNSW Science, we focus on delivering the optimal balance of theory and practical work to equip you with the skills and experience to fast-track your career. The SCIF3199 Science Work Placement course gives you the opportunity to gain practical work experience through an internship. Previous work placement students have interned with IT companies, start-ups, government departments and large biomedical and biotechnology companies. Along with new professional skills and connections, you’ll also gain course credit for your work placement.
• Research internship course
• The SCIF2041 Research Internship course gives you the opportunity to complete a short theoretical or experimental research project in a world-leading research team supervised by a member of academic staff. Internships may also involve a placement outside of UNSW, in the form of externally funded research programs.
• Law and industry knowledge
• Along with a thorough understanding of the life sciences, this degree will give you the tools to understand intellectual property law, commercial principles and deep contextual knowledge of the Australian and international biotechnology industries. You'll have all the tools to negotiate the path to a successful career in this expanding industry.

You’ll have the opportunity to tailor a degree to your specific interests. Specialise in cinema studies, communications and journalism, media studies, public relations & advertising, or screen production. Here, you’ll develop practical job skills as well as conceptual, strategic, creative, and critical capabilities to help you make your impact in the exciting and fast-changing media industries.

Screen production
Preparing for your audio-visual production career starts here. Throughout this three-year full-time degree, you will gain a range of audio, visual, and digital production skills that will equip you with the tools and knowledge to remain at the leading edge of local and international media industries.

With a career in sound production, video production, animation, film, or online games on the horizon – this degree will focus on conceptual knowledge and professional skills. Undertake hands-on learning with the latest technology, industry experience and a diverse team of academics and award-winning animators, filmmakers, scriptwriters, sound artists and game researchers ready to guide you along the way. 

Practicing using the latest cameras, audio recorders, microphones, lights, dollies and gimbals – you’ll build a strong portfolio of audio-visual work you can leverage professionally. You’ll also have access to advanced multimedia labs, digital video production and post-production facilities, animation and audio production studios. This includes our Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab, which has a system of computer-controlled amplification for the perfect performance environment.
