Civil and structural engineers are responsible for the infrastructure and resources that keep our cities, towns and rural areas functioning. They focus on the design and construction of buildings, bridges and other structural components of infrastructure projects.

What you'll learn

In your first year, you will develop a strong, general foundation in engineering before commencing your civil engineering courses in second year. During your third year, you will start taking introductory structural engineering courses, such as structural analysis and steel and timber design, with your final year primarily focused on specialised structural courses including earthquake and masonry engineering and cold-formed steel design.

At least half of your honours year will involve a major project. Projects are generally supported by industry clients or based in a research area like the Sustainable Infrastructure and Resource Management concentration. This industry-relevant degree is a four-year professional degree solely focused on teaching, that will equip you with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to thrive as a contemporary educator in childcare, pre-school, and junior primary settings.

The curriculum is practical in nature and you will begin work placements during your first six months. This focus on industry experience will continue throughout your studies, and on graduation you will have completed 110 days of field-based placements. You will also develop an in-depth understanding of the principles and concepts relating to early childhood development and learning, as well as leadership and advocacy in matters relating to early childhood.

Bachelor of Aviation in Flight

Make your dreams of becoming a pilot reality with an innovative aviation degree. The Bachelor of Aviation (Flight) is the starting point for all international students wanting to fly.

What you'll learn

You will undertake general studies in aviation including an introduction to human factors and safety management systems. You will do Flight Training Theory 1 and 2, taught by instructors from the flight training provider. These courses prepare you for CASA Commercial Pilot Licence theory examinations.

As your studies progress, you will explore more advanced and theoretical areas including meteorology, law, human factors and aspects of the flight and performance of large aircraft systems. You will also study communication and aviation management. Your technical studies will include aerodynamics, heavy aircraft systems, navigation and risk and safety management.

Flight Experience is part of this degree. If you don’t take up Flight Experience, this course will be replaced by two electives.

Your learning will cover biology, ecology, geography, earth and soil science, water and coasts, pollution monitoring, conservation, ecotourism and social sciences.
