Working with others is a large part of what creatives do. This program will have you constantly collaborating and connecting with your peers, instructors and the community at large. Work at an in-house creative shop where you’ll design aesthetically pleasing and purposeful high-end graphical content that solves real-world client problems. Grow your listening and interpretation skills, and learn how to express and communicate the “why” of your designs. 

It’s not all Photoshop and Illustrator in this program. Community projects are infused throughout the program, you’ll work in tandem with actual clients during your Capstone project, and finally, you’ll put everything you’ve learned into practice with an eight-week practicum.

In your two years of study, you will become comfortable with medical office procedures and develop a solid understanding of transcription, pharmacology and diagnostic imagery.

You will gain real workplace experience during your practicum placement and will have the opportunity to connect with potential employers before you graduate. Then, connect the dots within a strategic approach. This program will prepare you to administer and manage all types and sizes of businesses. In the second year, students specialize in one of the following areas:

• Human Resource Management

These different specializations allow you to focus your career path during your second year. There are 60 credits of required courses that are common to all specializations (typically scheduled in year one for on campus students). Applicants declare their specialization at the time of applying to the program.

You may choose to complete your first year of any specialization at either the Parkland (Dauphin) or Victoria Avenue East campus (Brandon), however only the second-year of the Accounting and Human Resource Management specializations are available at our Parkland campus. All four specializations are offered in full at Assiniboine's Victoria Avenue East campus.

Financial Services Specialization
Graduates find excellent opportunities in the financial services’ industry as personal banking officers, lending officers (retail and agricultural), investment analysts, stockbrokers, and customer service representatives.

Are you ready for a highly technical and in-demand career as a construction electrician? Learn a wide range of skills from electrical safety and codes to more advanced skills in wiring and blueprint reading. You will be connected to a lucrative career with this nine-month Construction Electrician program. With both classroom and shop components, this is one of Assiniboine’s most popular programs.

This entry-level program will take you from electrical safety and general code to advanced electrical skills in wiring and blueprint reading. Your industry-based practicum will emphasize practical applied learning, making you ready for real-world electrical problems you can solve. You and your fellow graduates will build careers with electrical contractors, construction companies, maintenance departments of industrial companies, public utilities and wholesale suppliers.

Register as an apprentice within two years of finishing the program, and you may get in-school training credit for Level 1 Construction Electrician apprenticeship, Level 1 Industrial Electrician apprenticeship or Level 1 Power Electrician apprenticeship

Create powerful messages through audio or visual productions, and develop your passion for television or radio environments. Learn how to communicate compelling stories within any audiovisual production role.

Looking for a creative outlet? The Interactive Media Arts two-year diploma program is your chance to indulge your creativity and excel in a hands-on career in television, radio or film. Our experienced instructors push you to develop your narrative craft, tackle news reporting, and master technical skills in audio, video and multimedia to broaden your mind and prepare you for the workforce.

Hone your craft across a wide range of audiovisual environments. The media specialization teaches you to write, announce, shoot, record, edit and produce items for broadcast, cable and audio/visual departments. This flexible comprehensive program will prepare you for entry-level broadcast roles within a team. Get on-thespot formative feedback to improve your skills.

Be a college radio personality, produce documentary films, do live television broadcasts on our Westman Newsline television show, and push yourself to find creative ways to showcase your ideas. Write a story from start to finish, but have the ability to put it into a range of audio and visual formats, including podcasts, documentaries and broadcasts. In your final term, focus on an area most interesting to you and develop your niche interest.

The two-year Legal Administration diploma is for the students who want to prepare for a career in justice, law or real estate and incorporates procedural knowledge of Canadian legal processes in private and public law, comprehensive technical vocabulary, legal transcription in police offices and courts and higher lever administrative training. Besides, the students also learn how to chair meetings, take effective minutes and the PClaw Software.

Develop your skills in legal terminology, Microsoft Office Suite, customer service and the creation of industry documents that today’s employers desire. Prepare for a stimulating career in law, justice or real estate with this two-year diploma. Graduates can anticipate applying their business management skills in areas relating to personnel administration: staffing, training and development, labour relations, compensation management and collective bargaining. Industry exams are written as part of your program curriculum, and you will be licensed to sell mutual funds. Obtain credit from the Investment Funds Institute of Canada for financial planning by registering directly with the organization.
