Our experienced instructors push you to develop your narrative craft, tackle news reporting, and master technical skills in audio, video and multimedia to broaden your mind and prepare you for the workforce.

Hone your craft across a wide range of audiovisual environments. The media specialization teaches you to write, announce, shoot, record, edit and produce items for broadcast, cable and audio/visual departments. This flexible comprehensive program will prepare you for entry-level broadcast roles within a team. Get on-thespot formative feedback to improve your skills.

Be a college radio personality, produce documentary films, do live television broadcasts on our Westman Newsline television show, and push yourself to find creative ways to showcase your ideas. The two-year Legal Administration diploma is for the students who want to prepare for a career in justice, law or real estate and incorporates procedural knowledge of Canadian legal processes in private and public law, comprehensive technical vocabulary, legal transcription in police offices and courts and higher lever administrative training. Besides, the students also learn how to chair meetings, take effective minutes and the PClaw Software.

Be recognized as a confident office professional in the legal industries. Develop your skills in legal terminology, Microsoft Office Suite, customer service and the creation of industry documents that today’s employers desire. Prepare for a stimulating career in law, justice or real estate with this two-year diploma. Understand Canadian legal processes in public and private law, gain higher administrative training, and acquire experience transcribing for police departments and court rooms. Learn how to chair meetings, become proficient in PC law software and craft a professional portfolio.

In your work placement, you will craft your ideal professional portfolio and be given the work experience that employers need. Careers for graduates include legal transcriptionist, executive assistant, customer service representative, office manager, legal secretary and records control specialist.

• Human Resource Management
• Marketing

These different specializations allow you to focus your career path during your second year. There are 60 credits of required courses that are common to all specializations (typically scheduled in year one for on campus students). Applicants declare their specialization at the time of applying to the program.

You may choose to complete your first year of any specialization at either the Parkland (Dauphin) or Victoria Avenue East campus (Brandon), however only the second-year of the Accounting and Human Resource Management specializations are available at our Parkland campus. All four specializations are offered in full at Assiniboine's Victoria Avenue East campus.

Marketing Specialization
Employment opportunities exist in sales, advertising, promotion, publicity, sales management, marketing management, retail management, market analysis, market research and new venture development.

Our two-year Network Administration Technology diploma program prepares you for a career as a computer network administrator. You will get hands-on standardized and specialized training with current applied technology. Study computer operating systems, scripting and the architecture of computer hardware, networking systems and routing.

Our instructors explain and demonstrate how to configure complex computer networking solutions and challenge students to build and configure their own computer networks in a controlled test environment. We partner with Cisco Systems Inc., and use their current curriculum to teach network routing in a fully equipped Cisco lab.

As a grad, you will find employment in the areas of troubleshooting and supporting data, wireless and voice networks, installing and upgrading computer hardware, installing and supporting computer software and computer programming. We offer a two-month work practicum, where you will fill the job role of a junior computer systems administrator in the IT department in the public or private sector.

In addition to technical skills, learn soft skills such as customer service and emotional intelligence. The skills you gain in this program can also be used towards industry certifications, such as A+, Microsoft’s MCP, MCSA and MCSE, Cisco’s CCNA and CCENT, or Linux+ and Network+.
