Candidates enrolled in the mental health program at Canadore College will be able to learn and enhance their knowledge in crisis intervention, abnormal psychology, dynamics of chemical dependency, foundation of psychology and sociology, recovery strategies and relapse prevention and other sub topics in the field. Upon successful completion of the program students may find job opportunities in hospitals, recovery or rehabilitation homes, addiction treatment centers and prevention programs.

Healthcare is a changing environment and nurses are needed to provide primary care where new trends in technology, pharmacology, nursing medical management are critical tools when working with clients presenting with acute complex pathologies. The Nursing Preparation Licensing Program (NLP) for Internationally Educated Nurses is designed to develop nursing expertise to work in the Ontario health care system. Emphasis is placed on the application and evaluation of advanced theories and practice in acute and chronic care settings within an interprofessional model of care as part of the health care team. Through classroom instruction, simulated labs and practicum placements, students will develop the necessary competencies to be eligible to practice in Ontario. Graduates of the program will be eligible to apply to write the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) jurisprudence and regulatory examinations to be accredited as a Registered Nurse within the Ontario’s Healthcare system.

• Provide patient care in accordance with the Professional Standards for Registered Nurses in Ontario, using critical thinking to make decisions based on research and theory.
• Practice within the legal, ethical and professional scope of practice of nursing for a diverse client population in the province of Ontario as a member of the health care team.

The ecological segment is developing and there is a rise of new "green" employments - locally, broadly and all inclusive. Experts are expected to manage environmental change issues, land reclamation, water preservation, water the board, and other manageability concerns. This program offers you the chance to take in hands-on from experienced educators in the lab and in the field, and addition the aptitudes you have to dispatch an energizing and applicable profession. 

Students enrolled in the program will be learning about sustainable energy solutions, applied research, health and environment, environmental risk management and also the work placement. For two years students will be developing their skills and enhancing their knowledge in the area of environmental technology with the help of excellent faculty and practical as well as theoretical classes. 

Further on completing the program students may seek their career opportunities in the areas of energy sector, natural resources, government agencies and ministries, conservation authorities, private corporations, water agencies, and many others which are similar to the field.

Prepare for frontline practice as a health professional in social and health agencies in this highly collaborative and experiential program. Specific topics include interviewing and counselling, crisis intervention, and recovery strategies. Main themes include trauma-informed practice and concurrent disorders. In-class training is followed by a 420-hour community placement. 

Graduates of any Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Arts program can complete this hands-on, intensive program in one year.  Expand your knowledge and skill set working in real-world settings. A 210-hour field placement gives you a practical application for your training with the possibility of securing permanent employment. This program is designed in collaboration with Nipissing University’s Faculty of Education.
