This one-year, full-time, graduate certificate program provides students with a broad business and technical background in computer applications, database applications, data communications, programming, data design and systems analysis and design. This program provides the student with programming experience and the skills necessary to analyze and design Information Technology (IT) based solutions.In the Computer Applications Development program, students benefit from specialized courses taught by highly qualified industry experts. As a result, students should expect to have classes scheduled up until 8:00 p.m.The optional co-op stream includes one co-op work term.

Become one of Conestoga's grads, teaching and managing ESL programs throughout Ontario.This 340-hour program includes applied in-class and practicum experience and is recognized by TESL Canada (Standard II) and by TESL Ontario.Graduates of the Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) graduate certificate gain the knowledge and skills for successful English language teaching through active learning and 50 hours of observing and teaching.Practicum placements occur in community-based programs such as Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and/or within English for Academic Purposes (EAP) settings at college or university, preparing students for today's world of English language learning and teaching in Canada or abroad.Conestoga's teaching faculty are passionate educators who bring extensive credentials and English language teaching experience across a variety of English language programs.Conestoga's TESL program meets and exceeds the standards of TESL Canada and TESL Ontario. Part 1 is recognized by TESL Canada (Standard I). Part 2 is recognized by TESL Canada (Standard II) and by TESL Ontario.The program is offered full-time in class or part-time online.

The Health Care Administration and Service Management program will provide those with health-care credentials with leadership theories and practical applications specific to the health-care environment. The curriculum is geared toward providing a wide base of professional skills in a health-care context such as finance, communication, human resources, leadership, operations, and critical thinking.

Technical communicators are vital to companies that employ exceptional writers, editors, researchers, and information designers to make technical information accessible. This Ontario College Graduate Certificate will provide you with the skills to design, create, illustrate, and produce content while using authoring tools to manage technical documents on multiple platforms. You will have access to cutting-edge software, and you will study at Conestoga’s newly renovated Waterloo campus in the heart of what CBRE (Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis) research has identified as Canada’s fastest-growing tech sector. The optional co-op stream includes one co-op work term.

Applying to the co-op stream

• All applicants apply to the non co-op program. Students will be informed of the application deadline and process to apply for the Co-op Stream. Labour market conditions determine the number of co-op seats in optional co-op programs. Not every student who meets academic eligibility requirements will be admitted to the co-op stream.
• To be considered for admission to the co-op stream, students are required to achieve a minimum overall 80% session weighted average with no dropped or failed courses.
• International students will require work permits to utilize the co-op job board for job search and to accept employment. Students are currently experiencing longer than usual wait times for work permits. Please be advised that there will be no co-op program service fee refunds after the program withdrawal for refund date. Students that have not received their work permit and choose to remain in co-op after the program withdrawal for refund date do so at their own risk and will not be refunded. If you are concerned about receiving your work permit in time to achieve co-op employment, please discuss your situation with your co-op advisor as early as possible.

This program is designed for graduates of technical degrees or diplomas to explore further studies across the realm of energy management. You will gain an understanding of various technologies and means of power generation through simulated software and theoretical studies. In this program, you will have the opportunity to explore how core technologies in gas and steam are combined with renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. Theoretical calculations in thermodynamic heating systems are compared with actual field measurements in heating systems to provide you with ample practice opportunities in applied utilities management strategies, where energy management and conservation strategies are assessed as part of utilities optimization. The program helps you develop leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex industrial processes and teams effectively to meet business goals. You will study quality assurance and process and project management with a focus on meeting challenges in an industrial environment from operational and strategic perspectives. During your final semester you will participate in a capstone course where you will work in teams to collaborate, plan and execute a full energy consumption analysis and develop a proposal for energy efficiency improvements for a company incorporating studies and methods you have learned over the prior three semesters.

Computer Programming and Analysis is a three-year advanced diploma program in which students learn the latest skills needed by developers in industry. The program emphasizes problem-solving skills using the latest versions of Microsoft, Oracle, Java and open-source software to develop enterprise, internet and mobile applications. Object-oriented analysis, design, agile methodologies and programming techniques are mastered and applied throughout the program.Students learn through a combination of theory and practice, applying their knowledge to hands-on assignments and challenging projects. Complementary courses in areas such as mathematics, accounting and communications support the core IT courses. All of these skills are then applied to a capstone group project in the last term in which students can build a major business application for a local business, providing them with a realistic, practical experience. The optional co-op stream includes four consecutive four-month work terms. 

This unique program provides in-depth theory and hands-on training for the brick and stone masonry trade. Located at the Waterloo campus, Conestoga's Masonry Centre provides the ideal setting to work with brick, stone, and a variety of other masonry materials. You will be given many opportunities to design and construct masonry walls and features in a safe and efficient manner; and will also learn to safely and properly operate hand and power tools, as well as equipment used by masons on a construction site. Additionally, you will also gain valuable knowledge about vital aspects of the brick and stone trade in Canada, including heritage masonry and refractory masonry, as well as commercial and residential applications. A graduate of this program may be exempt from the Level 1 in-school apprenticeship training should they choose to pursue a Brick and Stone apprenticeship.

In today’s ever-changing digital landscape, business requires experienced individuals capable of adapting to a variety of technical needs and challenges. You will explore the skills needed to work with the foundations of what makes up the majority of web technologies and interactive user interfaces. Through the creation of various projects, you will develop your design capabilities through a structured, hands-on approach. Students will create several web sites based on client needs that will include the initial stages of layout, wire-framing, prototyping, applying industry best practices, and accessibility standards.

The Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) (BCS) degree is a four year program, including three paid co-op work terms, which will prepare graduates for a number of progressive job opportunities as high quality software developers. Building upon the recognized foundations of computer science, students will obtain applied and integrated knowledge and skills in software quality, reliability and security, emphasizing: testing methodologies, software project management techniques and a strong awareness of security/privacy issues. Readiness for practice will be developed in a multidisciplinary curriculum focused around experiential learning activities that will encompass knowledge of computer science theory and its application. The program will be innovative in its use of technology to investigate issues, organize and manage inquiry, aid collaboration, and communicate information. Students will be challenged to examine multiple techniques in software design, development and testing; mastering professional practices that positively impact the quality of the software under development. Featuring a multidisciplinary curriculum founded on computer science theory and its application, this degree offers experiential learning activities designed to produce career-ready graduates. With an eye to the future, the degree will introduce students to the latest emerging fields: Big Data Analysis, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and the Internet of Things.

This program is designed for graduates of engineering degree or diploma programs wanting to expand their knowledge into the applications of AC and DC power for motion and propulsion. In this program you will be provided with opportunities to work with simulation software to enhance your knowledge of AC/DC motors, transformers, inverters, batteries and chargers as well as programmable logic controllers. These types of technologies are typically found in electric drives operating throughout industrial manufacturing and primary industries such as pulp and paper, metals and mining, power generation, elevators, escalators as well as moving walkways and electric transportation systems. The program will help you develop leadership skills, as well as the ability to manage complex industrial processes and teams effectively in order to meet business goals. It includes quality assurance, process and project management with a focus on meeting challenges in an industrial environment from operational and strategic perspectives. During your final semester you will participate in a capstone course where you will work in teams to collaborate, plan and develop a project of your choosing to solve a problem related to one of your studied areas. By the time you graduate, you will have an understanding of advancements in manufacturing processes, communications, human resources and safety practices so you can effectively contribute in today's industrial sector.
