Confederation College’s Practical Nursing program is a two-year program with an emphasis on providing nursing care to stable, predictable patients across their lifespan.

Courses in the Practical Nursing program cover a wide variety of topics including foundational theory courses, nursing skills/procedures, pharmacology, pathophysiology (disease processes), nursing assessment, and clinical practice. Students will develop the nursing skills needed to help people at various stages of life (infant to older adult) and experience a wide range of exciting clinical practice experiences! Students who graduate from a Ministry approved Personal Support Worker Program may also have advanced credits in the Practical Nursing Program. Students who graduate from the Practical Nursing Program often set their sights on a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree after completing the Practical Nursing Program.

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

• Communicate therapeutically with clients and members of the health care team.
• Assess clients across the life span, in a systematic and holistic manner.
• Plan safe and competent nursing care, based upon a thorough analysis of available data and evidence-informed practice guidelines.
• Select and perform nursing interventions using clinical judgment, in collaboration with the client and, where appropriate, the health care team, that promote health and well-being, prevent disease and injury, maintain and/or restore Health, promote rehabilitation, and/or provide palliation.
• Evaluate the outcomes resulting from all interventions in the nurse-client interaction and modify the plan of care as required.

• Adapt to a variety of health care settings, using different leadership skills and styles as appropriate to each setting.

This two-year diploma program teaches you how to function effectively in Canada’s aerospace industry. Work with advanced design programs such as CATIA. Learn about composites and how these materials make the world of difference in flight. Get hands-on experience in machining, CNC and other building fundamentals. You’ll learn the aircraft design, modelling and manufacturing basics you need to launch your successful career in aviation manufacturing and engineering.

Confederation College’s Child and Youth Care (CYC) advanced diploma program will give you the skills and knowledge needed to relate to, engage with and empower vulnerable children and their families. Through a wide range of courses including trends in child and youth care, sociology of family, youth substance use and marginalized youth and crisis experiences, you will be provided with a solid foundation to engage relationally while being developmentally responsive, trauma-sensitive and self-reflective. You will also gain a strong understanding of issues of oppression and racism, along with approaches to support health and wellness for Indigenous youth.

An ability to foster resilience and self-advocacy with young people and their families will contribute to achieving social justice and be the cornerstone of your professional identity. Field placements will give you on-the-job training in a variety of environments.

Confederation College’s Forestry Technician: Ecosystem Management two-year co-op diploma program prepares you for a career in all areas of forestry including forest management, forest resource conservation and protection, silviculture, fish and wildlife, fire management, research support, recreation and nature interpretation.

You’ll learn how to balance the social, economic and ecological aspects of our natural resources so that our region – and our people – will continue to grow and thrive.

The skills learned in this program are transferrable across Canada and around the world. Topics include tree & shrub identification, soils & geomorphology, harvesting & wood products, forest operations, the history and culture of Canadian Indigenous Peoples, insects & disease, forest plant biology, silviculture, fire management, fish & wildlife management and geographical information systems (GIS).

The General Arts and Science program at Confederation Campus provides students with interpersonal skills, computers, mathematics, analytical skills, communication and general science. The 2 year diploma program offers students with good understanding of various topics. This co-op program allows students to earn and study at same time. Applicants will be able to learn the basic in humanities, social science, arts, civics, technology and business. 

Any how this program is different from the one year general art and science program because it provides you with opportunity to specialize in the various areas from the first semester. Graduates from this program seek their career in various fields like, business, health, sales, hospitality and arts as well. Students can also pursue their career in research and education department.
 

Three year advanced diploma in Dental Hygiene program at Confederation College provides students with experience and knowledge required by them to get success in health care field. The program covers the topic necessary for this field. For instance: microbiology, dental hygiene, preventive oral health promotion, research methods, health policy and others. 

Professional Dental hygienists serve their responsibilities like clinical therapy, health promotion, education, administration and research. In general, hygienist either works independently or may have their private practice. Graduates may pursue their career in private dental offices, community dental clinics, hospital dental clinics, public health units and many others. With the help of this program students are prepared to work confidently and independently with clients and patients of different backgrounds.

Confederation College’s Pre-Technology program can help by allowing you to upgrade your skills and prepare for your future learning. The program is divided into two streams, the Technology/Aviation stream and the Trades/Pre- Apprenticeship stream, depending on what direction you plan to take.

The Trades/Pre-Apprenticeship stream is designed to upgrade your skills and knowledge for a variety of Confederation College trade programs including Carpentry and Renovation Techniques, Welding, Mechanical Techniques and Motive Power Techniques-Automotive. Courses cover topics such as applied math for trades, computers, trades science and writing strategies.

The Technology/Aviation stream is designed to upgrade your skills and knowledge for a variety of Confederation College programs including aviation, technology and technician programs. Class work includes applied math for technology, computers, technology studies or aviation studies and writing strategies.

Recreation is important for everyone as a way to relax and keep balance in their lives. But for some with physical, cognitive, emotional and/or social limitations, recreation therapy is also a way to connect and participate with others. You can learn how to help!

Confederation College’s Recreation Therapy program will give you the skills and knowledge you’ll need to plan, implement and evaluate a wide range of leisure services for children, adolescents and adults who experience barriers to a healthy leisure lifestyle. You will learn how to work with individuals and groups of all ages to assess their needs and interests so you can encourage independent and personally fulfilling leisure lifestyles. Coursework includes therapeutic recreation, developmental psychology, program and event planning, communications for community services, administrative practices, physical activity leadership and recreation facilities.
