After completing your first two years (and earning an Engineering diploma), you will move to the Halifax campus to complete the final two years of your degree.

BENG IN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
Industrial Engineers optimize processes and systems by finding ways to save time, money, energy, and materials. Through mathematical models, Industrial Engineers design systems and methods that will help businesses meet their production goals. Whether it's streamlining the manufacturing processes of automobiles to make cars more affordable or optimizing the nursing staff at a hospital to improve patient care, career options span a range of industries.

Co-op options
Co-op students take the same academic program as the non co-op program; however, our co-op option gives you an opportunity to complement your studies with three paid work terms.

What will I learn?
Whether you choose to focus your studies by declaring a major, or customize your degree to meet your career goals, you'll learn the basic business disciplines of marketing, accounting, finance, business management and organizational behaviour. You'll also gain valuable IT skills as you learn to work with spreadsheet programs, database packages, and other software applications used in statistical analysis, financial projections, and market research.

WHY STUDY HEALTH PROMOTION AT DAL?
Learning for life in a tight-knit program
Health promotion is about encouraging the health and well-being of individuals and their communities. This program is unique in Canada, accepting only 40 students each year so we can develop a small, strong, well-rounded group of health promotion specialists. You'll work together in the program and in the community upon graduation.

What will I learn?
The Health Promotion program offers you the chance to take a variety of unique courses that will prepare you for a successful career. In first year you’ll take a broad range of introductory courses in the School of Health and Human Performance as well as from different departments including Computer Science, Statistics, Anatomy, Sociology, and Physiology.

After your first year you'll choose between entering the Community Health Promotion stream or the Research and Policy stream. In your final year you'll complete a 14-week internship; taking you out of the classroom and providing you with hands-on work experience.

What will I learn?
Through the study of Music, students can develop expertise as listeners, performers and creators. You'll have the opportunity to take a wide range of courses from one-on-one studio instruction, to small seminars and large lectures. You can also study a wide range of instruments as well as voice.

Training in music teaches poise, discipline, creativity, collaboration and the ability to think on one’s feet. These skills are excellent preparation for many career paths in and beyond the performing arts.

ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
A rapidly growing discipline within the engineering profession, environmental engineers develop solutions to environmental problems – from ensuring our drinking water is clean to remediation of environmental hazards. You'll learn various approaches to environment-based design, waste management, water and soil quality, energy conservation and renewables, and air quality.

The Bachelor of Commuity Design (BCD) is a three-year program that explores ways in which people can work towards creating and maintaining healthy and sustainable communities. Our BCD Brochure gives you an overview of the degree.

If you are eager to make changes in the world, the BCD will help you develop the knowledge and skills to allow you to analyse issues facing communities, such as food security, just cities, sustainable transportation, and affordable housing. You will learn how to develop solutions to these pressing concerns in communities of different sizes. Our students care about the future of communities, are committed to sustainable urban sysems, and want to learn how to develop better designed environments. They are interested in protecting environmentally-sensitive landscapes and heritage neighbourhoods, and want to give commmunities the tools to make their own choices. Agricultural Economics brings together elements of mathematics, management and the social sciences as part of a wide-ranging educational experience. MINERAL RESOURCE ENGINEERING
Mineral resource engineers develop economically and environmentally responsible ways of extracting and processing minerals from the Earth. Mineral resource engineers evaluate the economics of mineral deposits; develop plans for surface mines, roadways and tunnels; design underground mine plants and ventilation systems; ensure mine safety and environmental protection; and develop innovative mine technology.

The discipline of earth sciences play a crucial role in answering questions like these about today's complex world. Studying earth sciences gives you insights into the Earth's evolution, composition, processes, and future.

Field work is an important part of Dal’s Earth Sciences program. You'll explore the fascinating and diverse geology of Nova Scotia, or take part in an off-site computing camp. Taking Advanced Field School provides you with opportunities for in-depth study abroad, in countries such as Italy, Chile, or England.
