What will I learn?
Whether you choose to focus your studies by declaring a major, or customize your degree to meet your career goals, you'll learn the basic business disciplines of marketing, accounting, finance, business management and organizational behaviour. Dalhousie's Agricultural Business program is where science meets business, bringing the best of both worlds together. At the Agricultural Campus in Truro, N.S., you'll experience a hands-on scientific education with practical work in the lab and in the field.

What will I learn?
Agricultural Business introduces current issues, challenges and opportunities in the agricultural and related sectors to prepare you for a rewarding career. Courses cover business management, natural science and agriculture, so you can approach these industries with a well-rounded foundation of essential knowledge.

The Bachelor of Commuity Design (BCD) is a three-year program that explores ways in which people can work towards creating and maintaining healthy and sustainable communities. Our BCD Brochure gives you an overview of the degree.

If you are eager to make changes in the world, the BCD will help you develop the knowledge and skills to allow you to analyse issues facing communities, such as food security, just cities, sustainable transportation, and affordable housing. You will learn how to develop solutions to these pressing concerns in communities of different sizes. Our students care about the future of communities, are committed to sustainable urban sysems, and want to learn how to develop better designed environments. They are interested in protecting environmentally-sensitive landscapes and heritage neighbourhoods, and want to give commmunities the tools to make their own choices. At Dalhousie's Faculty of Agriculture in Truro, N.S., expert faculty and leading researchers guide students through a program that blends science and economics. You'll learn to see issues from a global perspective and develop the leadership skills to succeed.

What will I learn?
Agricultural Economics brings together elements of mathematics, management and the social sciences as part of a wide-ranging educational experience. Learning from respected faculty, researchers and guest lecturers from the agri-food industry, students form an understanding of food production, public policy, trade opportunities and international food aid, among other topics.

If you love science, the Dalhousie Integrated Science Program (DISP) is for you. You’ll get a well-rounded understanding of a variety of scientific disciplines and how they're linked together. Integrated Science is not a degree program; it’s a foundation-building year in the sciences. After finishing Integrated Science in your first year, you’ll join other Bachelor of Science (BSc) students in second-year courses and continue through to graduation, majoring in a field of your choice.

What will I learn?
Integrated Science is a good choice if you're interested in many sciences and unsure which area you’d like to focus on. The interdisciplinary nature of the program also ensures you get skills in field work, lab work and the process of conducting scientific research.

The core of the Integrated Science program is composed of Integrated Science I and II, which are equivalent to two terms of Biology and Psychology and one term of Earth Sciences and Statistics. Along with Ethics in Science, students will fulfill the writing requirements for BSc students. Students will also register for co-requisite courses in Chemistry and Calculus which are taken alongside other BSc students.

Integrated Science students learn on and off campus through group work, hands-on field trips, lab experiments and computer-based exercises. Most students who enroll in Integrated Science in their first year at Dalhousie also end up completing an honours degree in science.  

The Animal Science major is designed to give students the scientific foundation required to understand and work with animals in a variety of contexts. That foundation begins with the first-year courses that form the BSc (Agriculture) core and continues in second, third and fourth year with more specialized courses.

In third or fourth year, Animal Science majors have the opportunity to select and conduct their own research project. Combined with Humanities and Social Science electives, these courses are the basis of a well-rounded education that prepares students for a wide range of careers.
 

You will learn to utilize the world’s limited resources by using solid scientific methods that measure and analyze the choice made by people and institutions.  The traditional way of teaching helps students to learn and utilize their skills and knowledge in the best possible way.  

Graduates of the program work in various fields as they can apply principles of economics to anything. The program helps you to shape public life and society as you may work as a policy advisor, politician, or business consultant. 

You'll have the alternative to pick courses that are more designed for the sociologies instead of the math side of the financial hypothesis. So, there is a characteristic association among math and financial matters that may rouse you to fabricate your math aptitudes. 

The only program of its kind in Canada, Bioveterinary Science will give you the foundation for a career in veterinary medicine and opens up a world of other exciting opportunities. Offered at our Agricultural Campus in Truro, N.S., this degree program is the starting point for your animal-related career.

What will I learn?
Dalhousie's Bioveterinary Science program blends a core general science education with specialized courses in animal health and welfare. Our 200-hectare farm and high-tech laboratories give you opportunities in experiential learning. You’ll work directly with animals like sheep, dairy cows, fish, chickens and more in both an academic and research capacity.

Students begin by taking foundation courses in biology, chemistry, math, physics, genetics, biochemistry and cell biology. These courses will give you the background for more in-depth studies in topics such as veterinary epidemiology, animal health and nutrition and mammalian physiology. You’ll leave with an in-depth knowledge of animals and focus on issues related to their health and care.

Our students gain practical experience alongside accomplished faculty members whose research projects are relevant to the needs of the modern animal care industry. No matter your chosen path, your Bioveterinary Science degree will set you up for a successful career or future studies.

There's no other program like it in Canada. Our Bachelor of Management provides an innovative and interdisciplinary program that combines information management, environmental resource management, public administration and business.

What will I learn?
Your first two years are dedicated to core courses in Management Issues, Accounting, Marketing, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Government Structure, Data Literacy, Economics and Statistics.

In your third and fourth years, you'll choose electives to tailor your degree to your strengths and interests. Choose from one of five majors (Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Leadership and Organizations; Managing Data and Information (formerly Knowledge Management); Public Sector Management; or Environment, Sustainability and Society) to focus on your area of interest, or stay flexible by doing a general Bachelor of Management degree without a major.

The optional paid internship for Bachelor of Management students is a minimum of 32 weeks (approximately eight months) of consecutive, full-time work experience related to your studies. It takes place between your third and final academic year.

You can supplement your degree with certificates in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Leading People and Organizations, Knowledge Management, Marketing Management, Public Sector Management, Intercultural Communication, Interdisciplinary Health Studies or Disability Management.

The public sector is made up of governments and their agencies, from the international level to the local level. It includes other publicly funded bodies, such as hospitals, schools, government corporations (CBC, Canada Post, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, etc.) and many not-for-profit organizations. The MPA degree will prepare you for the realities of working in the public sector, where the internal environment (visioning and goal-setting, decision-making, managing, accountability and conduct) is distinct from the for-profit sector.
