The Lambton College Interprofessional Practice - Gerontology, Ontario College Graduate Certificate focuses on preparing graduates to work interprofessionally to enhance their professional practice to care for aging adults and families who require complex and/or long-term care within institutions or in the home in Canada. In the program, students develop skills in collaborative patient-centred care and inclusive practice.

Program curriculum includes comprehensive patient assessment and team approaches to client and family centric care planning and delivery. Students also study various age-related changes in social, psychological and biological functions to evaluate the implications of these changes on individuals' ability to interact with their social and physical environments and on individuals' care needs.

As a culmination of program learning, students participate in both an interprofessional field placement within a community organization as well as a community project, which includes the completion of an associated capstone project research paper. Program curriculum along with real world experiences prepares graduates for employment in a range of Canadian work settings including senior centres, day and leisure programs, research and education services, retirement homes, long term care homes, group homes and home support services.

The Esports Industry is disrupting the traditional sports industry attracting new audiences, using new media channels and developing innovative new business models. The Esports Entrepreneurship and Administration program introduces students to this dynamic and exciting world of competitive gaming where business meets passion. 

Throughout the Esports Entrepreneurship and Administration program, students gain essential sports business knowledge by studying sports marketing, analytics, tournament and league management, special events management, accounting and communications. Each term, students study a specifically-tailored, hands-on esports course. Introductory esports gaming courses in Year 1 give students a grounding in the world of esports, the games, the businesses involved and the money-making strategies they use. Students learn about industry software/hardware, game design, computer networking and the business models behind team management and tournaments while developing and honing their streaming skills. In Year 2, students undertake a capstone project that integrates the knowledge obtained throughout the program and culminates in the execution of a real-world esports event.

This program can lead to various pathways to professional accounting credentials that can be beneficial to career development and advancement. Graduates of this program pursue careers as managerial accountants, financial analysts, tax professional, auditors and small business controllers.

Students in this program receive a well-rounded and thorough education in important aspects of business such as human resources, law and marketing in addition to the comprehensive accounting courses taught by Lambton's accounting faculty who bring a wealth of industry experience and all hold the Chartered Professional Accountants designation. There is a focus on developing strong communication, planning, teamwork, and analytical skills while studying accounting theory and practice, financial statement analysis, cost management and control, taxation, and computerized accounting systems.

Experiential Learning Opportunities 
Because practical work experiences are vital, students are given the option to participate in a co-op work experience in term 5. This provides exposure to a business environment and valuable work experience in the accounting field. In the final year of the program students utilize all their knowledge, skills, and abilities gained over the duration of their program in the Entrepreneurship capstone courses. Through a series of culminating reports and presentations, students showcase their knowledge, skills and abilities to corporate partners who provide feedback and enhance this experiential learning opportunity.

The two-year Business - Accounting program is the first step towards a career in the rewarding field of accounting. Students receive a well-rounded education in business while studying all the important accounting and finance courses. Students will learn accounting theory and procedures, and use accounting software.

This program provides access to important accounting credentials that can be beneficial to career development. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to pursue CPA Canada's Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF) provided specific grade requirements are achieved. Students interested in becoming a bookkeeper may transfer their courses to the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping.

This program allows for maximum flexibility, students can transfer into the three-year Business Administration - Accounting program at any time. After Term 1, students can move directly into Term 2 of the two-year Business or the three-year Business Administration programs in Sarnia.

The Applied Process Piping Design, Ontario Graduate Certificate program is designed to equip students with the specialized and highly practical skills involving the fundamentals of piping system components, specifications, regulations, and applications. This innovative curriculum will delve into the engineering of complex process facilities, including plant layout planning, piping equipment, design, and related standards.

Students will assess the responsibilities of a piping designer, and determine specific roles that are carried out in an entire piping design project. Additionally, students will have an opportunity to integrate piping design principles and industry codes that will align with engineering practices through hands-on labs.

Successful graduates will be in high demand and may find employment as a member of an engineering team in various sectors including environmental, mineral mining, and process and power facilities. Typical roles for graduates include Process Piping Designer, Piping Design Field Checker, Scheduler, Planner and Estimator.

Individuals with a passion for enriching the lives of young children will find support from Lambton College's caring staff as they gain the skills needed to become a knowledgeable, competent Early Childhood Educator. This two-year program educates students to work effectively with young children in order to nurture childhood development and maintain healthy relationships with their families. Students are introduced to both theory and practice through technology enhanced classroom theory, and experiential learning in hands-on workshops and field practice. This combination gives students the knowledge and skills to work with young children aged 0-12 years in a variety of settings. Students graduate with over 600 hours of practical experience.

Students also have the unique opportunity to complete a placement in our on-site EarlyON Child and Family Centre. Our on-site Parent and Professional Resource Centre offers valuable resources for curriculum planning, research, and professional development.

With ever-increasing numbers of aging people requiring assistance to continue a full life and with changes to the way health care services are delivered, the need has never been greater for Occupational Therapist Assistants and Physiotherapist Assistants.

The Lambton College Occupational Therapist & Physiotherapist Assistant, Ontario College Diploma program will train students to help people of all ages as they strive to recover and regain functional independence from injury, trauma, surgery, or chronic health conditions or illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis and mental illness. Students learn how to assist in implementing treatment plans that promote a client's independence in activities that are important to them.

This new and exciting program is being offered in the newly opened NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre. The unique program curriculum will engage students throughout a four-term program, as students learn how to assist clients to achieve their health goals. Students develop the ability to work with both professions as they focus their studies on occupational therapy and physical therapy education. The integration of in-class studies with hands-on experience is accomplished through rich experiential lab opportunities and practice in a variety of clinical fieldwork placement settings.

As with many other health-related fields, this program is suitable for compassionate, empathetic students who possess a concern for the well-being of others.

The Business Management program is designed for university and college graduates who are eager to expand their management knowledge and skills. Using a student-centred, practical approach to learning, students work with professors with real world business experience to develop the tools needed for success in a Canadian or international business environment.

The curriculum has a broad focus designed to develop the fundamental skills necessary to manage human, physical and financial resources in order to meet the strategic goals of an organization. Students will learn the essential aspects of business including marketing, sales, accounting, finance, human resources management and business communications. Through hands-on learning approaches, students will graduate with the communication skills, confidence and independent learning abilities needed to be successful in today's business world.

The work term that concludes the program provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience that will assist them in finding permanent employment after graduation.

Co-op Info
Co-op students have the opportunity to apply classroom learning to the workplace. Co-op placement opportunities help students gain valuable work experience that may assist them in finding permanent employment after they graduate. Students have access to our Co-op & Career Advisors who provide comprehensive co-op and career development services and resources for co-op students.

Students who enjoy hands-on automation and process control will appreciate the strong training and technical foundation provided in the Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technology - Industrial Automation program.

Instrumentation, final control elements and process computer control systems in any manufacturing process environment are broken down into sequential logical steps, analyzed and control is implemented. In industry, measured variables are then monitored and controlled. Examples of these variables include pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force and chemical composition.

Topics of study include signal conditioning, transmitters, analyzers, controllers, control systems, and final control elements such as control valves, dampers, and electric motors. These are components of automated control loops. Typical process industries that utilize this technology include petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, pulp and paper, automotive, and mining. Alongside the maintenance requirements of these industries there are other career options available including engineering, sales, and service providers/maintainers.

Students enrolled in this program will train in Lambton College’s newly renovated Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies. The Centre offers state-of-practice technology laboratories and infrastructure to support learning and research in next-generation technologies in collaboration with industry. Numerous hands-on laboratories are designed to enable participants to install, configure, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain instruments (pneumatic, analog, digital) and control systems in a variety of industrial-replicated settings.

Graduates of this program are eligible to receive credit for all three levels of Ontario's Instrumentation and Control Technician (447A) in-school apprenticeship training. 

Securing a Co-op
The job market for co-op is very competitive.  Students who have met the co-op eligibility are highly encouraged to actively participate in the recruitment process in the semester prior to their co-op work term. This includes, but is not limited to, attending all recruitment workshops, meeting with your program co-op advisor, regularly searching through the  myCareer Job Posting System and other job posting sites, networking; and contacting potential employers. Co-op & Career Services actively pursues employers, however there may be limited availabilities so students should seek out additional employers to secure their own co-op.

If a co-op position is not secured prior to the start of a co-op semester, students should meet with their program co-op advisor to discuss next steps.  Any student who secures their own position must contact their program co-op advisor prior to the start of employment to determine if this position is considered acceptable as a co-op and to complete the appropriate paperwork to register the co-op.  This is necessary in order for either the insurance to be put in place or for the employer to get a tax credit letter. Students enrolled in a co-operative education program pay a mandatory fee to cover the costs of employer relations development, job development, job-readiness preparation and co-op service administration. Payment of fees does not secure a co-op position.

The food industry finds itself responding to consumer demands for more refined, sophisticated, and convenient products with an increased responsibility for processors in terms of food safety and quality assurance standards. To help support the ever increasing demand to attract highly-skilled workers to the growing food and beverage processing industry in Ontario, the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate program provides extensive, hands-on training for careers in food and beverage processing, safety and quality assurance. This four term, full-time program is designed for students with previous degrees or diplomas in related sciences, engineering or food safety, and will add to previous education and skills that directly apply to the food processing environment.

Curriculum focuses on principles of food safety and quality assurance standards applicable to the Canadian food and beverage processing industries. Food Chemistry and Microbiology, Food Safety Management Systems, Sanitation along with an in-depth review of Canadian and International Food Laws and Regulations are the core elements of this program. The program offers a unique blend of theoretical and practical knowledge including a co-op/project term to allow students to integrate in the Quality Assurance management team.

Graduates will have strong knowledge of food and beverage processing procedures, sanitation practices, HACCP principles, health and safety practices, food safety standards, as well as good communication, leadership and problem solving skills.
