In manufacturing today, there is a continuous need for employees with highly developed skills in testing, processing, and quality assurance of materials. In addition, employers are looking for management skills to plan, implement and coordinate in manufacturing facilities. Encompassing many areas of science, including material science, chemical and material engineering and chemistry, and combining business management curriculum, the Lambton College Applied Manufacturing Management - Advanced Materials Processing, Ontario College Graduate Certificate program provides students with real-world experiences to learn and apply the knowledge and skills required to study the properties and behaviours of engineering polymeric materials used in a range of manufacturing applications in Ontario, Canada, and abroad.

In the program, students develop skills in applied material science and manufacturing. Additional courses include hands-on introductions to chemical analysis, material characterization, composites, nanocomposites and polymers. In addition, students learn the underlying theoretical principles in materials processing and additive manufacturing. Graduates are technically skilled problem-solvers with well-developed business, ethics, communication and analytical skills that can be applied to future careers in advanced manufacturing technology for a variety of industrial, government or consulting organizations.

It is an exciting time to be a nursing student at Lambton College. Students work in Simulation Labs with both high-tech equipment and simulated patients (actors), providing students with learning experiences that are truly rewarding and unique. Lambton College prepares future nurses so they may enter the health care profession with both required knowledge and hands-on skills to be successful practitioners. Students will experience the importance of smaller class sizes and individual attention by faculty enriching the learning experience. 

Lambton College partners with the University of Windsor to deliver the BScN program. Beginning in the Fall of 2019, the collaboration embarks on a new curriculum designed to meet the evolving needs of the 21st century nursing student and future nurse. Throughout Canada only certified Power Engineers are permitted to operate, maintain and manage equipment such as boilers, compressors, turbines and refrigeration units. Lambton College’s newly renovated closed loop 107 KW power generation plant operates exclusively as a training facility and is located in Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies. This is the only training unit of its kind in Ontario and students work collaboratively to generate and operate the power plant. In addition, the Centre also offers many other state-of-practice laboratories including distillation pilot plants, water treatment facilities, computer simulators, electrical and control systems and much more. You will gain knowledge and skills of plant operations and maintenance focusing on the 4th Class level in year one and the 3rd Class level in year two.

There are 4 different levels of Operating Engineer status granted by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), each level involving more complex tasks which qualify individuals for higher level employment. The first two years of Lambton College’s Power Engineering curriculum will make up the Power Engineering Technician, or PETN program. This program follows the curriculum of the standardized Power Engineer’s examination committee (SOPEEC) and prepares students to write the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) examinations for 4th, 3rd class certification.  

Steam Time Reduction
Importantly, successful completion of our unique curriculum will allow students to qualify for “steam time reduction”. Steam time reduction decreases the time required working in industry to qualify for their Power Engineering certification. Students who successfully pass their 1st and 2nd term courses qualify for a 9-month steam time reduction. Students who complete the 4th Class Power Engineering certification, including both TSSA examinations (4A & 4B) and obtain a 4-month CO-OP prior to the 3rd and 4th academic terms will qualify for 11 months of 3rd Class steam time reduction. Successful completion of the PETN program along with that CO-OP will result in a reduction of 20 months of steam time towards 3rd class certification.

The Accelerated Chemical Production & Power Engineering Technology program has been designed for graduates with a B.Sc. (Chemistry) or equivalent. Students will study core courses taught in the Chemical Production & Power Engineering Technology program and the principles underlying the complex technologies used in today’s processing industries.

Students enrolled in this program will train in Lambton College’s newly renovated Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies which contains complex lab and pilot plant facilities. The Centre duplicates a real-life manufacturing environment and the technologies developed can easily be scaled-up and transferred to an actual operating unit. The Centre offers state-of-practice technology laboratories and infrastructure to support learning and research in next-generation technologies in collaboration with industry.

The program prepares students to write the 4A and 4B TSSA 4th Class Operating Engineers Certification exams. This is an industry accepted certification that can lead graduates to a variety of career opportunities. Upon successful completion of the first two academic terms, students can apply to the TSSA to receive a nine-month practical steam time reduction towards their 4th Class Operating Engineers Certificate. TSSA registration eligibility requirements and fees are controlled by the TSSA and are in addition to the CPEX program requirements and fees.

In this multi-disciplined program, students in the Lambton College Facilities and Property Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate utilize existing related education or experience to learn and apply a variety of skills to help operate, administer and manage facility and property operations. In this program, students study the skills and knowledge associated with facility and property administration, including land use, property evaluation, financing, site administration and maintenance and owner/management relations. Students develop a foundation of business skills, including communications, accounting, human resources, relationship managing and marketing strategies that apply to the property facility and management industries of today.

The Occupational Health & Safety Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is a multi-disciplinary program that is designed to encompass a broad range of knowledge in occupational health, safety and environmental management systems that are critical to an organizations success. This program provides students with a strong health and safety foundation by developing the competencies required for the effective development, implementation and evaluation of health and safety systems in occupational settings.

Emphasis is placed upon learning the application of legislation and recognizing, controlling and evaluation workplace hazards. This program will enable students to become leaders in health and safety by motivating proactive behavioural change. Students will anticipate and employ strategies to manage emerging health, safety and environmental issues while examining accident theories, emergency response planning, ergonomic principles, risk management principles and the promotion of workplace safety and wellness.

The Massage Therapy program at Lambton College is well-known provincially and nationally for producing highly qualified and successful Massage Therapists! Graduates of the Lambton College Massage Therapy program perform extremely well at the Provincial Registration exams year after year. In fact, in 2017 85% of the graduates successfully completed the registration exams to become Registered Massage Therapists in Ontario. Lambton College's advanced diploma program will equip students with the academic knowledge, hands on skills, and experiential learning opportunities needed to succeed as a regulated health professional. 

The Massage Therapy program is offered in the new state-of-practice NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre that is fully equipped with the latest industry standard technologies.

Lambton College Massage Therapy students will be surrounded by experienced professional faculty and will also get the opportunity to develop their skills in the community with a variety of diverse populations. Graduates of the Lambton College Massage Therapy program have amazing opportunities to pursue University degrees if they choose to take advantage of the many transfer or articulation agreements that exist.

As a mobile college, this program aligns with the Lambton College strategic mandate to be a leader in mobile educational technology. The program curriculum will focus on meeting the growing need for highly skilled professional educators to assume leadership roles in program and instructional design, development, evaluation and online facilitation. Students develop proficiency with industry-standard online learning tools including Articulate Storyline, LMS', Camtasia, Web Conferencing Applications; as well as e-learning, QA and AODA standards.

This program is designed to demonstrate the integration of multiple platform teaching technologies for individuals currently responsible for such roles as professional development within corporations, government and the public sector, as well as for online learning developers. Graduates can expect to develop and expand their knowledge of educational theory using state-of-the-art educational technologies.
