  - Interpret the Ontario Planning Act as related to transportation engineering technology
  - Produce a roadway geometric design in computer-aided drafting software (both AutoCAD and Civil3D)
  - Understand the basics of construction management for a simple project
  - Prepare minor reports presenting a problem, alternative solutions, and recommended course action
After five semesters, a student will have enough knowledge and skill for the following (Usually in time for a Summer co-op):
- Make a functional design of an intersection and a roundabout
- Perform advanced spreadsheet functions, including the use of macros
- Determine the transportation impacts of a proposed development:
- Write a report on findings and suggest remedial measures
- Avoid degradation in the level of service (LOS)
- Use traffic capacity analysis software (Synchro or PTV Vistro)
- Perform limited GIS queries and analysis
- Research a technical transportation topic. Make a confident oral presentation in front of a large audience
