This degree program examines political topics that range from the foundations of international relations and foreign policy to Canadian politics.

The Political Science Program at Nipissing University offers courses of study in Political Theory, Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Public Administration.

If politics is a form of association directed towards what a community holds to be good - their common purpose - then political science is the reflective study on those various purposes as well as of the means or methods chosen to achieve them.

As a student registered with any of the three major areas of study in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Nipissing University (AHVS, Studio, and Film), you will have access to unique research and exhibition opportunities that foster professional development through exciting and interactive collaborative ventures with senior artists, gallery owners and community leaders. Accounting is about more than financial controls and reporting — it’s also about fiscal and social responsibility. Accounting professionals need to show due diligence, and to think and act ethically when they evaluate options. You will be challenged to think not only about the shareholders, but all stakeholders when making decisions. You will learn the uses and limitations of accounting information through case studies, simulation, and hands-on learning experiences. You will gain an understanding of many topics, including auditing, information systems auditing, taxation, consolidation, not-for-profit accounting, hedges, and foreign exchange within your advanced accounting courses. You will participate in tax clinics, where accounting students prepare tax returns for low-income households and perform “mock audits” on local not-for-profit organizations. You will have help preparing for the CPA professional examinations. This combination of social awareness, academic vigor, practical experience, and support is what helps our graduates succeed in today’s marketplace.

In your second year, use the knowledge and skills you’ve acquired, in a 60-hour community leadership experience. You may choose to participate in an international or domestic practicum arranged by Nipissing University or focus your interests closer to home within Ontario. Previous international and domestic locations have included Costa Rica, Kenya, France, and Trois Pistoles, Quebec. Experiences within Ontario have included placements in organizations such as museums, outdoor education centres, and correction centres. Whether teaching internationally or working with a local organization, you will get to explore the teaching and learning opportunities that exist outside of traditional classrooms.

The Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (BPHE) is a four-year degree program that balances the science-based study of human movement with curricular opportunities that broaden socio-cultural experiences and promote health and wellness through physical activity.

In addition to prepared community leaders, the BPHE program offers students an opportunity to meet the requirements for registration in the College of Kinesiology of Ontario.

Our Teaching Approach
The BPHE program is designed to provide students with a balanced curriculum that includes lectures, labs, seminars, physical activities, research opportunities, individual study, and community placements. Studies are enhanced with components of the program being offered both on and off campus.

Unique elements of the Nipissing BPHE program include:

• ‘Practical’ Physical Education courses - students are required to take applied physical activity courses every semester! Examples include soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, aquatics, gymnastics, canoeing, rackets, dance, yoga, baseball, golf, track & field, rugby, combatives, navigation, nordic skiing, curling, downhill skiing, canoe tripping, winter camping, mountain biking, and more!
• Community Leadership Placement - students are placed in their third and fourth year within local health and physical activity organizations (e.g. schools, hospitals and clinics, sports teams, rehabilitation centres, etc) to contribute to their development as leaders in their field and to develop ongoing relationships with community-based services.
• Flexibility to select courses leading to degree completion with either an emphasis on the pedagogy of Physical and Health Education (e.g. for careers leading to Teaching and/or Coaching) or on the development as a health and exercise professional (e.g. for careers leading to Kinesiology and other allied health professions).

At Nipissing, we combine a strong foundation of academic theory with an emphasis on research. That means you’ll not only learn through lectures, you’ll also spend a significant amount of your upper years ​completing your own research work, under the close supervision of a professor, which is an amazing opportunity for undergraduate students.

Math opens up all kinds of career opportunities, from engineering to business to teaching, and more. You can even learn how to design computer games, if you opt for the Certificate in Game Design and Development.​​​

Welcome to the Child and Family Studies (CHFS) program within the School of Human and Social Development at Nipissing University. The Child and Family Studies Program is unique with a particular focus on two thematic areas of study:

• Human Development and Learning; and
• Child and Family Well-Being: Issues, Services, and Social Justice. Students can pursue a Major, Specialization or Honours Specialization

Further, you want a career within child and adult developmental and/or behaviour services, health/mental health services, child welfare, education, justice, government, or even the private sector, and have a real appetite for social justice and making a significant difference. You may choose to complete one of our 2 Applied Certificates in Applied Behaviour Analysis or our Program Evaluation and Applied Research Certificate (PEAR) as you learn to improve systems and services for children, youth, or adults, across the social and human services sector.

Nipissing University's Bachelor of Education (BEd) program was one of the first pre-service teacher education programs to be fully accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).

The Bachelor of Education (BEd) program is part of our Schulich School of Education and meets the requirements of the Ontario College of Teachers for teacher certification (Certificate of Qualification). It is open to applicants presenting proof of graduation with an approved undergraduate degree from an accredited university. The program provided by the Schulich School of Education is rigorous and demands a high degree of commitment. To be successful, a student must display sensitivity to pupils, a sense of responsibility to the teaching profession, and a respect for knowledge.
