Kinesiology focuses on human movement and optimizing performance and quality of life. This comprehensive program covers the behavioural, biomechanical, physiological and psychosocial aspects of human health and performance. Knowledge is applied to several settings including rehabilitation, adapted physical activity, sport, exercise and general health in people of varying abilities. You will be prepared for provincial and national professional examinations. 

Experiential learning
Kinesiology students may pursue internship opportunities for one term or a full year. Working in the field of athletic therapy or exercise and rehabilitation, you are able to use skills you learned in the classroom and apply them to real-world experiences.

Astrophysics is a specialization within the Physics program. Students will explore the current state of knowledge in astrophysics, examine new and emerging theories, and utilize modern techniques to analyze and solve problems in astronomy and astrophysics. Students in the Astrophysics specialization will also develop extensive knowledge in physics and math, as well as strong analytical and computational skills. This specialization will prepare graduates for a wide variety of career options in astronomy and physics, as well as graduate studies in a related field.

Marine Biology is a specialization within the Biological Science program. Within the marine biology specialization, students will learn about marine ecosystems and organisms, as well as have experiential learning opportunities in the marine environment via a semester abroad* at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS).

Do groups of people make better decisions than individuals? How do clinicians diagnose mental illness in children and adults? Can we empathize equally with people from different cultural backgrounds?

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program will receive a core first year of social science courses with their second year reserved for foundational psychology courses. Students will also be required to take a number of additional social science electives in their upper years of study. This program will be of particular interest to students wishing to pursue studies in the social, personality and developmental characteristics of human behaviour.

Students will receive a solid foundation in research methods and statistics as well as highly marketable skills in a variety of tech-focused domains. The knowledge students will gain from this program will put them in strong positions for additional education or direct-to-work opportunities in areas such as business, community development, advocacy, public policy, security and marketing.

Experiential learning

• Experiential learning opportunities will be fostered through volunteer, practicum, internship and directed lab research opportunities, each of which will give students hands-on experience in their field of interest.
• A limited number of fourth-year students have the opportunity to acquire workplace skills through an immersive internship or practicum experience with a partner organization.

Crime is not committed in a vacuum. It occurs in a particular socio-economic and political context. Criminology examines the broader social and individual contexts that lead to criminal behaviour. It also examines how criminal justice is shaped by larger social, political and technological contexts, and how those contexts are translated into practice in agencies such as the police, courts, corrections, the juvenile system and various social and government service agencies.

Our program explores and critically analyzes criminological and sociological theories of why people commit crime. It also examines how societies define crime and who is considered a criminal. Our program approaches the study of crime from an interdisciplinary perspective, drawing on a rich tradition from criminology, sociology, philosophy, psychology and law. In addition to examining why crime is committed, you will be encouraged to think about crime, criminal justice and its administration in ways that are consistent with the principles of fairness, equity, peace and justice.

Experiential learning

• A limited number of fourth-year students are granted an opportunity to participate in a learning experience with a community organization. The practicum is an experiential learning tool that provides students with opportunities to acquire workplace skills and knowledge, confront the relationship between theory and practice, and cultivate a sense of personal and professional development. The Practicum course consists of 100 hours of fieldwork, several in-class seminars and a set of academic assignments.

The Game Development and Interactive Media program is designed to provide students with a wide range of game design development expertise. You will be immersed in the game design and development process from day one and you will develop video games beginning in your first year. Successful students develop their technical, managerial and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills in a diverse team environment. Working with programmers, artists and designers you will create innovative products that push the medium to its limits. You will acquire the knowledge and skills required to quickly advance your career in the gaming, interactive media and simulation industries, or become an entrepreneur in charge of developing and managing your own gaming/interactive media studio. 

Our innovative gaming and virtual reality laboratory is equipped with state-of-the art software and equipment including motion capture facilities, an audiometric (sound) room, 3D displays, and the latest in interaction devices to allow for the development of high-quality animation, 3D models, sound recording and production, game engines, and gameplay code.

Experiential learning

• You will gain firsthand experience through internship work placements (locally or abroad) or Capstone study projects in which you work as a team to provide consulting services to one of our industry partners.

If you are interested in pursuing a career in education, Concurrent Education allows you to apply directly for advanced acceptance into a Consecutive Education program. This is available for the Primary/Junior program and the Intermediate/Senior program. 

In this program, you will have opportunities to participate in education seminars, visit classes and discover if a career in education is for you. You are encouraged to meet faculty, students and graduates to gain a better understanding of the teaching profession and the multiple career paths you can pursue with a Bachelor of Education degree. 

Upon completion of your degree, you will directly enter the Bachelor of Education program. Acceptance is dependent on GPA subject and specialization requirements of the completed undergraduate degree.
