Get hands-on social service work experience in field placements:-

In Terms 2, 3 and 4 you’ll work with seniors in a field placement two days a week. This means valuable on-the-job experience and the chance to practically apply your class lessons. You’ll support older adults in different settings, and also establish valuable career connections in the community.

• After earning your Computer Systems Technology advanced diploma, you can apply to bridge into Year 3 of one of these Sheridan degree programs: Honours Bachelor of Applied Computer Science (Mobile Computing), or Honours Bachelor of Applied Information Sciences (Information Systems Security). 

Co-op Option

• Students in this program may apply to the co-op program during their second academic semester. Enrolment in the Co-op program is limited through an additional co-op application process that takes place at the end of the first year. Students in the co-op program are eligible to complete three co-op work terms prior to graduation. • Co-operative Education is a form of work-integrated learning that links classroom learning with paid or unpaid work experience within a professional environment. Co-op work terms are related specifically to the academic studies of each student. The work terms provide an opportunity to learn by doing. You’ll apply theory to practice, develop a meaningful view of the working world, and cultivate an awareness of yourself as a professional.

Take the design process from beginning to end
Sheridan's Industrial Design program gives you the tools to create smart, innovative and meaningful design. You'll go through the entire design process — from research to finished product. You'll look at design problems and imagine, develop and test solutions for specific audiences. Working with our other studios, you'll connect design with creation, broadening your knowledge.

State-of-the-art facilities
In this program, you'll use the latest technology to prepare you for success in the industrial design industry. You'll learn both digital fabrication methods and hand processes. Access to our state-of-the-art FAB LAB (with 3D printers and laser cutters) and our amazing faculty and students in other studios gives you a broad skill set to get you ready for a rewarding career.

Get a foundation in all Craft and Design studios
Our program provides a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to craft and design. You'll major in your studio of choice while building skills in the four other disciplines. You'll work with students and faculty from across all five studios on interdisciplinary projects that bring together a range of expertise and experiences to explore the potential of contemporary art, craft and design.

Can corporate communications be considered an art form? That's how Sheridan approaches the subject. It's a unique approach among business communications programs, and it produces student work that stands out. The courses in this program feature hands-on, project-based assignments. You'll be working for real-world clients, not just doing classroom exercises.

Hands-on, project-based assignments

• Write persuasive and informative copy for internal and external publications, news releases, conference presentations, speeches and public service announcements.
• Express yourself in a variety of public forums such as media interviews and news conferences.

Fast-track to employment
It takes less than a year to earn a Public Relations – Corporate Communications graduate certificate from Sheridan. You'll build a portfolio, get real-world experience and master both practical and theoretical aspects of business communications. You'll spend the last five weeks of the program in an onsite job placement, working with professionals.

Visual effects is truly a balance of left and right brain thinking. You must be able to understand and utilize both art and technology to create effective visual effects. Only by exploring the latest software and technology in-depth, will you be able to apply and grow your artistic talent.

Be a part of the film-making process
Whether it's creating massive destruction scenes or expanding the scope of production, nearly every film now requires visual effects for support. By collaborating with students in other filmmaking programs, you'll learn to become part of the film production process and capable of creating and integrating any digital elements required to tell the story.

Now and then
You'll come to Sheridan with artistic ability and experience using 3D software. We'll build on that foundation over a period of 10 months and teach you the tools and techniques to become a successful visual effects artist. We'll help you explore and realize your visions and find your path in the visual effects industry.

The Visual Effects program at Sheridan provides the industry's most comprehensive curriculum by leveraging the knowledge and facilities of our world-renowned Computer Animation and Advanced TV and Film programs. Our instructors bring years of industry experience and a passion for creating visual effects.

Graduates have gone on to careers as digital visual effects animators, compositors, motion trackers, rotoscope artists and as lighting and shading specialists.

You'll earn your graduate certificate through classes that involve:

• Researching styles, trends and new developments within the industry.
• Developing two-dimensional special effects concepts and work-ups of what they might look like complete.
• Using specialized products and equipment to animate, sculpt, create, cast and mold your creations.

Professors who know the business
Because classes are small, you'll receive lots of personal support from your professors who are themselves highly experienced in the field. Most are still active in special effects makeup. Through your study you'll also be introduced to the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the union representing the profession.

Practical, hands-on experience
During the summer following the first two semesters, you'll participate in a field placement where you can use your newly acquired special effects makeup skills in a professional setting. This invaluable work experience and exposure to professionals in the field can be a springboard for employment.

Beginning in your first year of studies, you’ll take courses in each of the five streams of our Craft and Design degree: Glass, Ceramics, Textiles, Furniture and Industrial Design. Once you’ve completed your in-class studies, you’ll have a 4–6 week internship. You’ll work with your professors to secure a placement in a media or news organization that suits your career goals. Sheridan’s newly renovated newsroom is a fully interactive space. It merges all media platforms (radio, television, web) into one centre.
