Power up your future as a software engineer today. Through our program, you will learn to apply engineering principles to computer software. You will gain technical knowledge and skills in how to design, develop, maintain, test and evaluate software. As you move through the program, your courses will include areas such as engineering, business, computing science and project management.

Software engineer grads do more than program. They bring creative solutions to manufacturing, transportation, health care, government and digital media. These sectors rely on computer tools and applications, which our grads manage.

Software engineering is the study of how software is built and maintained and includes project management and testing. Our students like the program’s practical, hands-on approach.

Co-op program:-
Co-operative education is a requirement of the degree. During your Co-op experience you will receive paid and relevant work experience, allowing you to apply theory learned in the classroom, explore interests related to the field of study and advance skills as a professional while strengthening your resumé. In the fourth year of study, students are required to complete two mandatory co-op work terms.

Our program is designed to meet the criteria of the Engineers Canada Accreditation Board. Graduates will meet all of the educational requirements for registration as a professional engineer through APEGBC. Up to 12 months of co-op work may count towards the work experience required for professional designation.

Some industry experts consider special events and conventions to be the fastest growing segment of the Canadian tourism industry. This program is designed to provide a practical overview of the function, skills and knowledge required to successfully plan, organize, manage, promote, and evaluate a festival, convention, trade show, or special event. Event planning is a very detail-oriented business. As a result, this program will appeal to individuals who have a high regard for details and the creative ability to manage special events and conventions from inception to fruition.

This program explores the fields of mathematics and economics. The program equips students with the knowledge and an appreciation of ways in which mathematics and economics interactive to describe human behavior and our economy.

Obtain knowledge on the practical applications in many areas such as physical and life sciences, finance and economics, computing and information theory, social sciences, and even fine arts. Gain an understanding of math as the science of patterns, which have evolved from roots in simple arithmetic to a complex language.

The finance major is fun, interesting, and rewarding from a money income perspective. The profession is divided into two main fields: investments and corporate finance. Investments deals with a professional such as a financial advisor or money manager choosing to invest in GICs, stocks, bonds, options, futures, swaps, real estate, commodities such as gold or collectibles, to name a few. The primary goal is to make your client rich. Another purpose in wealth management is to minimize the risk of your client’s portfolio perhaps through the use of derivatives and their strategies such as butterfly spreads, call bear spreads, put bull spreads, collars, and straddles. Potential employers include banks, insurance companies, pension funds, private equity firms, hedge funds, and mutual fund companies among others.

The other field is corporate finance. Professionals here may focus on financing an organization's daily operations and future growth. Sources of capital to finance the firm include vehicles such as lines of credit, commercial paper, term loans, mortgages, bonds, leases, venture capital, and IPOs to fund seasonal build-ups in working capital and major asset purchases. Additional specialization in corporate finance may be cash management, accounts receivable management like collections, payables management, and working in mergers and acquisitions teams. Possible employers are corporations, not-for-profit firms, governments and their agencies.

Criminology prepares students for careers in policing, justice, victimology and law enforcement. Criminology is both a subject of academic study and a field of practice. Graduates of a Criminology degree will have extensive knowledge of the key social and psychological factors that lead to, and can prevent criminological and deviant behaviour. Criminology students develop many skills including:

Substantive skills

• Criminologists develop the ability to understand criminal and deviant behaviour at work in society so that they can better evaluate proposed changes or resistances to change.

Analytical skills

• Criminology provides the ability to identify the contributing parts of a problem and to evaluate proposals for change.
• Critical thinking skills
• Criminology students learn to synthesize existing theoretical knowledge, and research information, and the processes of evaluating arguments and solutions.
• Research and data analysis skills
• Criminology students learn how data are collected and analyzed, how data are used to test hypotheses, and how to evaluate the work presented in research studies and the popular media.

Communication skills

• Criminology courses provide practice in effective communication in written and oral forms. Students are encouraged to develop their ability to explain and interpret as well as to clarify and summarize.

Horticulture is the culture of vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, turf grass, and ornamental plants. The settings for this culture may extend from the back yard grower to large commercial operations, such as green houses, orchards, vegetable farms, turfgrass operations, forestry seedling nurseries, garden centers, golf courses, municipal parks, landscaping, and landscape maintenance firms.

People working in the horticulture industry should have a strong interest in plants and like the hands on aspect of the work. Depending on the scope of work, many of the positions within the industry involve working outside in a variety of weather conditions.

Highlights
Cultivate a career in horticulture. Learn landscape maintenance techniques, equipment operation, pest management, landscape design and construction, plant identification, pruning techniques, plant propagation methods and basic irrigation hydraulics. On-site landscape development gives you hands-on experience to complement your coursework.

Associate diplomas recognize the achievements of students who have completed two years of academic work. They are of particular value to students who want to save money by completing the lower level requirements of a business degree in their local community before transferring to another university such as Simon Fraser University or University of British Columbia for third and fourth year. Associate diplomas are also intended to recognize the accomplishments of student who for financial, family, work or academic reasons are not able to complete a full four-year business degree.

The Associate of Commerce and Business Administration Diploma is awarded to students who have completed the lower level requirements of the Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Students may substitute General Education Electives for MATH 1170 – Calculus for Business and Economics and ECON 2330 – Economics and Business Statistics 2.

Graduates of the Associate of Commerce and Business Administration Diploma may return to TRU in the future to complete the Bachelor of Business Administration and receive full credit for courses taken in the associate diploma.

This program will be of interest to students who have a non-business degree and want to return to university for one or two years to acquire a specialty in a functional area of business. Students with a first degree in business, but who want to change their area of focus, may complete a post-baccalaureate diploma as well.

Shift into leadership. Our Master of Nursing program offers you the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to contribute to the evolution of health policy. Through critical and creative approaches, you will be equipped to influence and support innovative change.

Our flexible, accessible graduate program offers a variety pathways to admission. You can choose core course options in Leadership and Managing Change in Health Care and Indigenous Health Leadership. Graduates will be equipped to meet the demand for advanced nursing roles within complex and dynamic health-care systems within BC, across Canada and abroad.
