Anthropologists study humans: who we are, what we do, what we say, what we look like, and what we believe in.

At UNB, Anthropology is a holistic discipline, meaning you’ll examine humans, both past and present, as biological, cultural, and social beings. You’ll explore three central subfields – sociocultural anthropology, archeology, and biological anthropology – and you’ll have access to our expanded lab facility that includes a vast collection of human, hominid, and primate teaching specimens.

We use a range of learning styles and innovative teaching methods, and we incorporate findings from our research. Our small class sizes mean greater interaction between you, your instructors, and your peers.

Geological engineers merge earth sciences with engineering principles to determine what lies underground. Working primarily in the mining and mineral extraction sectors, geological engineers oversee the stability and safety of mines and of drilling sites, particularly of oil and natural gas wells.

This includes:

• Stabilizing the site against landslides and other ecological disasters
• Protecting groundwater supplies from contamination
• Ensuring all work is conducted in an environmentally sustainable way

From emergency care for premature babies with immature lungs, to ongoing treatment for people with chronic diseases such as cystic fibrosis, asthma and emphysema, respiratory therapists play an important role in lifelong health.

Respiratory therapists can be found throughout the health care system, such as:

• Hospitals
• Rehabilitation centres
• Public health clinics
• Home care services
• Research labs within universities
• Private sector corporations
• Equipment and pharmaceutical sales
• Air quality testing facilities

Open doors

• A respiratory therapy degree can also open doors around the world. Health care providers in developing countries actively recruit Canadian graduates to help develop health care facilities and programs abroad.
• Following completion of the BHS (Respiratory Therapy) students may pursue further training in the specialized treatment areas of perfusion technology, sleep medicine, neonatal or pediatric care and anaesthesia assistant.

 UNB Saint John's Bachelor of Applied Management in Accounting (BAMAC) program complements the practical and technical accounting experience gained through a college education with university-level studies in accounting.

The BAMAC will qualify students for greater career opportunities or to pursue a professional accounting designation, such as the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). As an added bonus, many of the courses required in the BAMAC are the same as the required courses for the CPA professional program.

University of New Brunswick Saint John BBA students who major in the Electronic Commerce Program are introduced to the relationship between business and networked on-line commerce.

Whether you are interested in marketing, accounting, process design, operations, strategy, human resources, or organizational change, success in today’s business environment depends on the ability to take advantage of e-business strategies.

UNB Saint John is a leader in the field of Electronic Commerce, and will equip students for positions in traditional firms and new technology startups, or give them the skills to start their own businesses. Our graduates also have the knowledge and skills to qualify for other professional programs or graduate studies.

Bio-Psychology examines the human body and human behaviour. This interdisciplinary program is designed for students interested in pursing careers or post-graduate studies in neuroscience, human biology, medicine, dentistry or pharmacy.

What you'll learn
In your first year you will take introductory courses in a cross section of science disciplines. These survey courses serve as the foundation for upper level study.
A major in Biology-Psychology will include studies in specialized topics such as perception, animal learning, cognition, social and developmental psychology, microbiology, genetics, physiology and more.

Our BScEC program will introduce you to the function and roles of Canadian and global economies, and the tools economists use to analyze the decisions made by individuals and businesses. Our BScEC graduates are well-qualified for jobs in economics or finance, or the pursuit of graduate studies in either field.

The Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering is the home of the Chemistry department in Saint John and is located on the top floor of William F. Ganong Hall.

Chemistry is the study of atoms, molecules and their interactions. It is often described as the central science because studies in biology, geology and physics examine the gross behaviour of materials which is a reflection of what is occurring at the molecular level.

The BScCS is a four-year degree program providing students with a solid foundation in core areas of computing recognized by the Canadian Information Processing Society. The program prepares students for a wide variety of careers in traditional and emerging fields in computing. Alongside core courses a targeted range of elective courses are offered through which students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in specific areas of computing or in complementary disciplines.

Students may choose to specialize in one of the following disciplines: software engineering, or computer networking.
