Philosophy helps students explore a wide range of questions from a variety of different positions. Ask the big questions, and accept there are no easy answers. Philosophy ponders questions about meaning, truth, ethics, art, citizenship, and freedom that define who we are as individuals and leads us to a clearer sense of our role in society. 

Philosophy is available as a major, double major, or minor within the Bachelor of Arts. Students can explore the major philosophies of the past and engage with the issues and major questions of today.

Electrical engineers oversee the production, transmission and use of electricity.

That includes everything from managing large power grids that deliver electricity to designing microprocessors for computers and other electric devices.

With the many applications of electricity, the areas of specialization are wide-ranging:

• Power apparatus and systems
• Electronics and digital systems
• Computer networks and communications
• Eletromagnetics
• System dynamics and control

Mechanical engineers work with systems that transform energy and material to useful ends.

Combining the principles of physics with engineering, mechanical engineers design, develop and analyze machines, including:

• Aircraft
• Automobiles
• Ships
• Spacecraft
• Industrial equipment
• Robotics
• Medical devices
• Heating and cooling systems

The majority of mechanical engineers work in manufacturing and industrial plants, improving system performance, including increased emission and other environmental controls.

With professors internationally recognized in the field and its ideal location on the St. John-Kennebecasis River estuarine complex, the campus is well equipped to offer this program.

The marine biology program is a general synopsis of the discipline with special emphasis on Canadian east coast waters. Marine biology students at UNB Saint John receive a broad, basic training that will allow them to qualify for a wide range of employment opportunities, both in Canada and abroad.

Anthropologists study humans: who we are, what we do, what we say, what we look like, and what we believe in.

At UNB, Anthropology is a holistic discipline, meaning you’ll examine humans, both past and present, as biological, cultural, and social beings. You’ll explore three central subfields – sociocultural anthropology, archeology, and biological anthropology – and you’ll have access to our expanded lab facility that includes a vast collection of human, hominid, and primate teaching specimens.

We use a range of learning styles and innovative teaching methods, and we incorporate findings from our research. Our small class sizes mean greater interaction between you, your instructors, and your peers.

Our BScEC program will introduce you to the function and roles of Canadian and global economies, and the tools economists use to analyze the decisions made by individuals and businesses. Our BScEC graduates are well-qualified for jobs in economics or finance, or the pursuit of graduate studies in either field.

Bachelor of Science at UNB Saint John:-

At UNB Saint John you’ll explore how the world works with Bachelor of Science programs that delve deep into the principles that support our universe, from the diverse ecosystems in our rivers and oceans to the pure mathematical theories that explain time and space.

Scientific research has made great advances in the past 20 years and at UNB Saint John you’ll have the opportunity to learn and experiment in small classes led by instructors passionate about science and the theoretical and practical knowledge it imparts.

Statistics is the collection and interpretation of data. At the University of New Brunswick Saint John, you will learn to develop tools to predict behaviour and actions across a variety of sectors including government, business, science and academia.

In your first year you will be required to take introductory mathematics courses in calculus as well as two introductory courses in probability and statistics. In your upper years you will build upon this foundation with courses in probability analysis, design and sample surveying. You may declare your major or minor in statistics at the end of your second year.

A degree in statistics prepares you for a career in analyzing a variety of factors for many types of employers including government, business, education and academia.

Our graduates go on to become actuaries, forensic auditors, insurance underwriters, market research analysts, medical researchers, public opinion researchers, statisticians and systems operation analysts.

Mathematics puts our world in order. Arts students may major or minor in Mathematics, studying calculus, geometry, algebra, statistics and mathematical theory. Mathematics provides the framework for scientific theory in applied, natural and social sciences and the principles underlying economics and business studies.

The University of New Brunswick Saint John's Bachelor of Applied Management Ecommerce (BAMEC) program complements technical and programming skills gained through a college education with university-level studies on how business is conducted in the new economy.
Gain a comprehensive understanding of how technical and business issues relate to e-commerce and the information economy, and you will gain a competitive edge over your fellow college graduates in business technology.

In BAMEC you will further your technical knowledge and expertise through courses that explore the application and evolution of Wi-Fi networks, E-learning in corporate settings, E-health networks, and various other virtual learning environments.

Linguistics courses offer insights into the relationship between the brain, mind and language. By studying linguistics, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge to understand foreign languages and the difficulties foreign students encounter in English and French. 

Linguistic courses complement programs in Education, English, Languages, Psychology, Philosophy, Social Science, and Computer Science. Linguistics is a requirement for Speech Therapy, TESL, and other programs related to language processing and language engineering.
