BA (Hons.) Sociology is a 3-year under graduate program in Sociology with emphasis on a broad study of society and its mechanism. It facilitates the understanding of concepts like social issues in cross-cultural societies, encourages and develops an insight about the forces that serve to form modern society. Students are introduced to basic concepts, intermediate knowledge systems, and also trained to apply practical advanced training in sociology through theoretical grounding, research methods, and evaluation. This program trains students in the wide range of skills traditionally employed by modern sociologists. The aim is to provide students with innovative training for the success of candidates in a wide range of professions.

This course deals with Importance and scope of horticulture, Horticultural and botanical classification, Climate and soil for horticultural crops, Plant propagation-methods (sexual & asexual), propagating structures; separation, division, grafting, budding, layering), High density planting; Use of rootstocks; Orchard establishment, Principles and methods of training and pruning, Juvenility and flower bud differentiation; Unfruitfulness; pollination, pollinizers and pollinators; fertilization and parthenocarpy; Use of plant bio-regulators in horticulture, Irrigation methods in horticulture crops, Fertilizers application-methods.

The B.Sc. syllabus emphasizes learning of chemical principles in theory as well as their experimental aspects. After an introductory course in chemical structure and properties, students will take foundational level courses that will show how chemical structure can be used to explain physical, organic, inorganic, and biochemical reactions and how these chemicals and their reactions can be quantitated and modeled mathematically. The students will conduct a series of experiments in the laboratories equipped with modern instrumentation and computers, where they will learn important techniques and skills in synthesis, analysis, separation and modeling of chemical reactions. The students undertake various research projects under the mentorship of faculty members in the institute or external mentors for their bachelor’s level dissertation.

B.Sc. in Nutrition & Health is a single major programme which offers two distinct pathways; Nutrition and Health and a limited opportunity to mix the two. This course investigates the scientific aspects of food science and nutrition and the wider implications of diet on our health and wellbeing. The politics of food in society, involving manufacturers, retailers, consumers and health professionals, are complex and continually evolving. The programme provides a balance of scientific and socio-economic studies of diet, nutrition and related health aspects. Its breadth leads to an appreciation of the key positions of food in society, health and well-being, as well as in the manufacture, marketing and retailing of foods, and a knowledge of the appropriate law and regulations. At the interface between nutrition and health, graduates will be key in the development of new healthy eating trends, advice on proper food choices to individuals or communities, maintain good health, prevent malnutrition or manage therapeutic diets.

M.Sc. Nutrition & Health has been offered to impart to eligible candidates advanced skills in Clinical and Therapeutic Nutrition, Community Nutrition and Critical evaluation through integration of nutrition, dietetics, and research through hands-on training in multispecialty hospitals under the supervision of expert dietitian and nutritionist. The advanced study through this course will forge a connection between medicine, chemistry, and food, focusing on the good and bad effects of alimentation on the human body.

B.Design (Hons.) programme of Industrial design focuses on designing products, systems and services that make life easier by developing creative thinking ability. It’s a balance of creativity, technology, cultural concerns, environmental needs, exploring materials, production techniques, aesthetics, the emerging fields of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Artificial Intelligence, and social issues in both local and global contexts. Students learn and apply user centric insights by becoming more empathetic.

The BA (Honours) program in Public Policy and Administration addresses some of the fundamental problems facing human society. The students are required to understand questions on public policy and the significance of administration in contemporary times. The Programme is committed to developing students into citizens who are active and informed of policy procedures and, more importantly, substantive policy outcomes. The aim is to prepare and train students with skills of critical thinking and analysis that would help them to appreciate the interlinkages and distinctions between government and governance. Finally, it is a step in the direction towards meeting current demands of skill based and ‘employment ready’ students.
