Biosimilar is that branch of study which deals with study of drugs that are very similar to original product, but not identical. They are not generic drugs and do not possess the same active pharmaceutical ingredient, yet comparable to original reference drug in terms of quality, safety and efficacy. Biosimilar are alternative potential therapeutics but not generics. For biosimilar products, the manufacturing process requires a high level of monitoring and testing.  

At UPES, B.Tech. Biotechnology students with a specialization in Biosimilar will be made familiar with existing regulations, manufacturing sciences and distribution practices of Biosimilar products in India and all across the globe. Students will learn about controversies associated with Generic drugs and need for development of Biosimilar products. Students will also learn how a drug is discovered in a lab, followed by testing in clinical trials and then launched in market for commercialization.

The M.Tech. Program in Energy Systems and Sustainability provides scope for engineering innovators / entrepreneurs with a mission to develop sustainable energy systems and solutions for the future. Program delivery is intended by aligning the content as per the industry working methodology. This program offers the blend of placement opportunities in various verticals of Energy and Sustainability Engineering to work as an Energy Specialist, Energy Consultant, Project Manager, Lead Energy Auditor (ISO-50001 global level), Sustainability Manager etc. Learners will have the opportunity to gain the knowledge in Energy, Sustainability, Green Buildings, Project and Financial Management, Smart and Micro Grid, e-Vehicle & Energy Storage, Thermal Utilities performance, Sustainable Habitat, Performance Analysis of Electrical Equipment’s, Climate change & Sustainability, Process Optimization etc.

Students has the opportunity to work in Funded research projects and consultancy projects from Government and other funding agencies with wide opportunity to go for higher studies under student exchange program. The program specializations are:

The specialization Low Carbon Technologies studies systems having almost zero carbon footprint.

5 G Communication and Technology involves core ECE subjects plus innovative courses covering innovative technologies such as Massive MIMO, LTE-Advanced, mmWave, Massive-IoT, 5G-NR, NB-IoT, SDN, Cloud-RAN, Edge Computing, NFV, HetNets, Network Slicing and much more. State-of-the-art laboratories, project-based learning environment and regular industrial visits (every semester) are conducted to amplify practical exposure and hand-on experience of the students.

PhD (Food & Nutrition Sciences) is the highest degree in the field.

Avionics deals with the design and analysis of electronics and communication systems used in the aerospace industry The prescribed courses of study and syllabi cover areas like, Radar Systems, Fly-By-wire flight Control System, Signal and Embedded Electronics, Avionics System Design and aerospace engineering Subjects Viz,. Aerodynamics, propulsion and structures.

The laboratories are well equipped with state of art technology, which will enable students to learn on job skills while pursuing their curriculum.

Applied Mathematics focuses on the innovative creation and imaginative use of mathematical concepts to present and solve problems over the various field of natural sciences, engineering sciences, medical sciences and emerging fields such as data sciences and artificial intelligence. The program is designed to provide students an increased knowledge and comprehensive understanding of mathematics, particularly in algorithms, fluid mechanics, differential equations, probability and stochastics, and optimisation.

The program equips students with the skills to gain the maximum benefit within the petroleum sector. Industry experts are invited to interact with the students and be part of events to provide their insights and share their experiences. The students learn how to successfully and responsibly market under challenging environments.

The objective of this program is to equip the students with ways to find solutions to the challenges imposed by climate change, and the principle on which to build the future of business. It covers general management skills as well as the ability to apply those skills in transition to sustainability and the efficient use of natural resources, thus adding an ethical dimension to business.

Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering with Specialization In Process Design Engineering is an industry-oriented program training the students in chemical process development and designing. The students as part of the curriculum go for one year of Industrial project where they receive immense industrial experience. We also have a MoU with Grasim Industries - Aditya Birla Ltd., for the M. Tech Industrial project/ internship program.
