This course deals with the inter-combination of statistics and computer science with an aim to extract patterns of information from given raw data (unprocessed data) and transform the data to provide meaningful information for business use. It covers the concepts of machine learning used as data mining techniques and touches upon the differences between data science and data mining. Students will be able to use the different data mining techniques such as association, clustering, and use different data mining applications such as market basket analysis and customer relationship management.

The program trains students to apply skills learnt in a classroom along with industry exposure in a developmental context. This prepares students for leadership positions – both in intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship scenarios. Our courses focus on social media tools, metrics, curating and creating content, and marketing strategies. This specialisation simultaneously equips students with Google Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) tools for increasing distribution and discoverability of online content which is a key skill set to all online publishing. The course would specifically focus on social media and SEO integration for a strategic use of search engine algorithms, on-page and off-page optimization, for highest search engine ranking and site visibility and traffic. The SEO specialization would cover critical areas such as algorithms, building social media signals, PageRank, HTML tags, and effective use of keywords.

The Construction Management specialization is curated for professionals in the construction and civil engineering industry. It  deals with the skills and knowledge of building dams, bridges, highways, water supply systems, modern townships, waste management, and pollution prevention.

The full term of two years and the syllabus for the program is divided into four semesters. This Master’s program is also an ideal preparation for various PhD programs in basic sciences and engineering.

This program offers basic technologies of Virtualization (enabler of Cloud), infrastructure less computing at client side by IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)-by Vmware, Virtual Box, Openstack etc., PaaS (Platform as a service), having platforms for development environments, SaaS(Software as a Service), deploying software on cloud enabled infrastructure, performance tuning of deployed objects-checking efficiency and security in Cloud.

In this specialisation, apart from essential concepts such as data structures, algorithms, OOPS concepts using Java and python, databases, software engineering and design processes. Students will also obtain an in-depth knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence by implementing relevant real-world problems in a wide variety of application domains such as robotics, computer vision, natural language processing, etc. Students will be experienced in machine learning pipeline, data models, algorithms, and empirics.

Masters in Microbiology is a two year course that offers two specialization streams namely Food and Environmental Microbiology and Medical and Pharmaceutical Microbiology.

Medical Microbiology comprises and integrates the fields of immunology, bacteriology, virology, mycology, and parasitology. The common bond between them is the focus on the causes of infectious diseases and on the reactions of the host to the pathogens. The objective of specialized course of medical microbiology is to provide in-depth knowledge of the etiologic organisms causing diseased and the pathogenic mechanisms leading to clinically manifest infections into its host. This knowledge is a necessary prerequisite for the diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of any infectious diseases, indispensable for both biotech, pharma industries and academic sectors.

As pharmaceutical microbiology is crucial to the manufacture and production of drugs, biologics and devices, it is absolutely important that people working in these industries have a strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical microbiological principles, techniques, processes and strategies in order to avoid any potentially costly and life-threatening failures and consequences.

In this program, a student learns about the basics food preservation and conservation. In this particular specialization, the Design of food process plant, Food plant location, Food plant layout, requirements like water supply, Electricity supply, clean environment and location, Contraction material used, Waste management, cleaning and sanitisation are main course content. The equipment used during food processing, packaging requirement, utensils, standards related to material used in construction of food processing equipment’s, standardisation of food process, arrangements of equipment’s in best possible way.  The food processing Industry visit carried out for practical knowledge.  Food Industry Trainings are also carried out. Scope and importance of food plant engineering, Processing methods and their requirements, Preservation by drying, Preservation by low temperature, heat treatments, and Food conversion operation. In this a student learns about various techniques and procedures involved in food packaging. This subject helps a student to understand the importance of processing of various kinds of food products. This course covers both practical and theoretical aspects of food industry.

Biosimilar is that branch of study which deals with study of drugs that are very similar to original product, but not identical. They are not generic drugs and do not possess the same active pharmaceutical ingredient, yet comparable to original reference drug in terms of quality, safety and efficacy. Biosimilar are alternative potential therapeutics but not generics. For biosimilar products, the manufacturing process requires a high level of monitoring and testing.  

At UPES, B.Tech. Biotechnology students with a specialization in Biosimilars will be made familiar with existing regulations, manufacturing sciences and distribution practices of Biosimilar products in India and all across the globe. Students will learn about controversies associated with Generic drugs and need for development of Biosimilar products. Students will also learn how a drug is discovered in a lab, followed by testing in clinical trials and then launched in the market for commercialization.
