UPES School of Design’s Under Graduate Programme, B.Des. in Interior & Retail Space Design imparts in-depth knowledge and professional training in both residential and commercial interior design projects. The curriculum includes modules on space planning, furniture, creative lighting, interiors, design management, art and craft, materials, building technology, the art of show home design, sustainable design and much more. The programme also lays emphasis on retail branding, visual communication and merchandising with a focus on customer experience.

Integrated (B.Des) - (M.Des) in Graphics Design prepares students to become proficient and compelling visual storytellers with a focus on the evolving industry and technology. Students are exposed to image design, typography, layout design, branding, design history, research methods, web-based design, digital design, photography, and graphics technology.

Propulsion and Engine systems plays a vital role in development of various automobile, transport vehicles, aircrafts, rocket engines, ships and navel transport vehicle. The major source of energy to these systems is through the combustion and hence the design of combustion chamber plays a vital role. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) explores the design, monitoring and analysis of propulsion and engine systems. The core part of the course consists of modules, which are considered to build the necessary foundation of the combustion modelling. The advancements in the combustion technology, challenges in designing advance combustion chambers like burners, IC engine Combustion systems, jet engine combustion systems, fuel injectors, supersonic combustors in Scramjets and Rocket engine combustions. The Modelling of these systems are associated with various challenges like flame stabilization studies, turbulence combustion, Spray Systems, multiphase combustion, Microgravity combustion, flames and reactive flows, This module covers Recent Trends in Modelling of Combustion and its available numerical models and computational tools along with the expectation for further developing CFD techniques in the field.

Applied Mathematics focuses on the innovative creation and imaginative use of mathematical concepts to present and solve problems over the various field of natural sciences, engineering sciences, medical sciences and emerging fields such as data sciences and artificial intelligence. The program is designed to provide students an increased knowledge and comprehensive understanding of mathematics, particularly in algorithms, fluid mechanics, differential equations, probability and stochastics, and optimisation. 

The full term of two years and the syllabus for the program is divided into four semesters. This Master’s program is also an ideal preparation for various PhD programs in basic sciences and engineering.

Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry covers a broad spectrum of activities related to the research based on the interaction between drugs and biological targets and the relationship of chemical composition and dynamics to biological activities. This includes drug design, discovery of medical needs and the study of chemical substances at the molecular level. The interdisciplinary research involves bio-organic and medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, development of synthetic methodology, chromatography techniques, natural products isolation and synthesis, chemical biology, analytical and spectroscopic techniques etc.

B.Sc. in industrial chemistry offered at UPES is a three-year undergraduate course. This course is one of the sought after course due to its immense scope and ever rising popularity in the job sector. The course provides extensive knowledge on the development, optimization, monitoring of various chemical processes that are widely used in industry to convert raw materials into useful products for society. This course allows its aspirant to be ready for industrial filed and public sectors by providing them advanced technical skills with necessary managerial and life skills.

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology can be defined as that branch of study which applies principles of biotechnology in development of therapeutics. This is one of the fastest growing areas in the pharma sector. Development of diagnostics as a point of care using pharmaceutical Biotechnology is widespread in todays’ world. Common biopharmaceutical products include proteins, antibodies, aptamers, recombinant DNA products, gene therapy, engineered enzyme, etc.  Pharmaceutical biotechnology companies develop tailor-made medicine for maximum therapeutic effects. A majority of therapeutic drugs in the current market are pharmaceutical application biotechnology principles such as antibodies, nucleic acid products and vaccines.

This multidisciplinary course has broad scope not only with theoretical knowledge, but with skill development opportunities and also focuses on practical content, exposure to pre-clinical studies and marketing. Plant Biotechnology assist in developing new varieties of crop like genetically engineered crop, marker assisted selection, genetics and genomics, etc. This field of study helps in identifying and mapping genes, discovering their functions and transferring desired gene to specific plants as per requirement. This branch of study also focuses on all aspects of the genetic engineering process to enhance efficiency, expression and precision of added gene.

This programs’ problem-based learning mechanism, emphasizes on genomics, proteomics and metabolomics. The curriculum for Plant Biotechnology is planned with theoretical studies, where students will get hands on experience by performing some of the techniques used to detect genetic variations and its implications in plants. Students will be subjected to problem solving sessions to enhance their ability to apply and design their own research projects.
