What you will learn :

The BCS program equips graduates with the skills and practices to achieve entry-level IT positions to pursue a professional career in the industry. In particular, the program is designed to:

• prepare graduates to be effective in a variety of professional roles, applying the technical expertise required by their endorsed discipline;
• provide a well-defined and relevant curriculum, whilst incorporating flexibility to enable rapid adoption of new technologies;
• promote professionalism and independence in learning;
• provide flexible study modes and the capacity to develop individual study initiatives and directions;

The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science (BSES) program is a full-time, three year program that offers stimulating degree studies, enabling you to become a highly regarded industry professional within the sport, health and exercise science sectors.

The program enables graduates to enter employment in the sport, exercise and recreation industry with a sound knowledge of:

• Anatomy and physiology
• Exercise and sport science
• Nutrition and health
• Sport coaching and psychology
• Industry projects
• Research and professional practice skills

This program is designed to develop:

• Technical skills related to sport and exercise science
• Communication skills necessary for negotiation, coaching, scientific and management level presentations
• Research skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to evaluate new information, concepts and evidence from a range of sources
• Professional skills which meet the needs of industry and society/communities, and that will enable you to continue to consolidate, apply and extend your knowledge

The program for cookery and professional chef training at EIT is full-time for two years which offers you stimulating studies and provides the opportunity to begin a career in the hospitality industry.

Formal work experience in industry is an important part of the program, providing valuable on-the-job training as well as building professional networks and experience.

This program incorporates two specialised streams to choose from:

• Patisserie: breads, pastries, desserts and cakes, includes City & Guilds Diploma in Patisserie.
• Cookery: global cuisine, modern cooking techniques, menu planning and costing, and charcuterie.

The PGDipIT is a one year Level 8 full-time programme with a minimum of 120 credits. It enables those who have completed a computing degree to achieve a postgraduate level qualification in information technology.

Those who wish to progress from the PGDipIT to the MIT will need to complete eight courses (120 credits) at Level 8.

The programme can be completed in one year full-time or up to four years part-time, depending on your previous study and experience and specific course preferences. It can act as an entry point into the masters degree if you do not initially meet the entry requirement and need to demonstrate your ability to study at a postgraduate level. Alternatively, if you initially enrolled in the masters degree and are not in a position to complete it, you can transfer any applicable courses to the postgraduate diploma for the purposes of qualification completion.

This degree will give you a strong foundation in business and help you gain the skills today’s employers demand. You will benefit from a wide-ranging business education with plenty of practical experience, and you can choose to specialise in majors in:

Accounting Major
Graduating with an accounting major will enable you to undertake accountancy related work in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. With appropriate course selections you will be able to meet the provisional admission requirements Chartered Accountant (CA) with either Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or CPA Australia. The Program Coordinator can advise you on appropriate course selections.

Management Major
Typical opportunities after graduation include the areas of: human resources; operations management; or developing your own business.You will work initially in roles such as Team Leader, Functional Manager or Management Trainee, progressing to more senior positions with experience.

Marketing Major
Typical opportunities after graduation include work as a Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Account Manager or Product Manager and progressing to more senior positions with experience.

The BVN program is designed for individuals wishing to become highly regarded industry professionals within the veterinary nursing sector.

As a graduate of the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing you will:

• Place animal welfare at the forefront of every veterinary nursing task and procedure performed while also considering human and environmental factors;
• Integrate extensive knowledge and understanding of the professional, cultural, ethical and moral responsibilities of a veterinary nurse;
• Confidently apply advanced theoretical knowledge and skills in veterinary medical nursing, anaesthesia and surgical assistance in practice;
• Think and reflect critically to continuously improve animal well-being, their own practice and the industry as a whole;

The NZ Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise is a one year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program which offers you stimulating studies and provides a pathway to a career in the wide field of recreation, sport and health. This program has close links with the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science.

In particular, the program is designed to enable you to:

• Understand human body structure and function with emphasis on the musculo-skeletal system
• Develop knowledge and skills related to professional practice in the recreation and sport industry
• Understand the relationship between nutrition, physical activity and other personal health behaviours and health
• Develop knowledge of a range of sporting and recreational activities through practical experience and active participation
• Understand the sport and recreation industry in New Zealand
