After completing this program, you’ll be able to enter the counselling profession at a beginning practitioner level. Practical placements are an essential part of the program and you’ll spend time working in community agencies and organisations. Once you’ve graduated, you’ll be able to apply for provisional membership of a relevant professional body such as the NZAC, Te Wh?riki Tautoko, DAPAANZ or NZ Christian Counsellors Association. You’ll have developed the skills and professional attributes to enable you to work collaboratively within this increasingly complex and interdisciplinary sector.

The Graduate Diploma in Marketing allows you to add a specialisation in marketing with elective options in strategic management, operations, international business and more to further your career. You will use your existing graduate skills or extensive experience to start your business study at the equivalent level to the final year of a business degree. The Graduate Diploma in Marketing is a great option if you are seeking promotion in your existing employment, wish to broaden your skill and knowledge base and keep ahead in the knowledge game or if you are considering a career change, including self-employment.

This degree program is offered by AUT at the Nelson Campus and is available to graduates of the Diploma in Applied Fitness and the new New Zealand Diplomas in Sport, Recreation and Exercise. After completing the NZ Diploma in Sport Recreation and Exercise.

The courses that make up this program are all relevant and applied so you are constantly learning information you can apply to your work on graduation. The degree does not contain specialisation, however in your third year you will complete a big project that reflects the area of sports and recreation you are interested in. Class sizes are small providing more contact with your tutors than at larger institutions and you will make good friends with your class mates. Get started with Postgraduate study and pathway onto the Master of Applied Management. NMIT offers a Master of Applied Management pathway qualification. The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management is the first 10 months of the 15 month Master of Applied Management. You will complete the four core compulsory courses from the Master of Applied Management, plus four elective courses of your choice. This program aims to enable students to enhance their applied management skills and knowledge by focussing on more specific and in-depth aspects of management. The range of elective courses aim to provide options that will complement a range of particular professional experience and career aspirations.

Through this three year program you will develop a wide range of skills and knowledge related to Animation and Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). This program is designed to give you the skills you need for employment in the CGI industry, and in the creative and cultural sectors, or in other sectors where CGI is used. You will gain experience using industry-standard animation and CGI software and processing for projects.

The NMIT Bachelor of CGI program is designed to introduce you a wide range of tools and techniques, and then let you delve deeper into particular areas of interested through project courses. Whether you want to create animated characters for games, or special effects for cinema – the skills you will learn in the Bachelor of Computer Generated Imagery will help set you on a path for a wide range of careers in CGI.

A professional degree that will prepare you for the workforce in a range of information technology related jobs. This program focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of computers and their application in business and industry and provides entry to postgraduate study. The NMIT Bachelor of Information Technology is accredited by IT Professionals New Zealand.

Arm yourself with the tools to become a leader in the hospitality industry by understanding the values, practices and quality systems that define successful hospitality businesses. Develop key skills by learning how to analyse and evaluate hospitality and tourism operating environments, sustainable destination management (kaitiakitanga) options, and how to effectively apply staffing strategies to create a flow of positive staff relationships and a well-run team. You will also learn how to manage the customer experience, and how the concepts of kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga can be applied to your industry, allowing you to create distinctly New Zealand experiences.

This one year program is designed to build on scientific knowledge gained from your previous degree level study and give you practical experience to work daily in a marine environment. The Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Aquaculture will give you an advanced theoretical understanding and the technical and practical skills related to sustainable aquaculture practices. It will provide you with the skills to critically assess aquaculture systems. As part of an internship or in your existing employment, you will also complete an industry research project. This will encourage you to support the development of sustainable growth in the aquaculture sector through innovation. The program has been developed in consultation with the aquaculture and scientific community as well as industry representatives. It is designed to be flexible enough to meet today’s needs and those of the future, locally, nationally and internationally.

Are you interested and passionate about health, fitness, sport, recreation and exercise

There are a range of opportunities available to help you into employment and future study in this growing and key industry sector. This level 5 program is the first year of the diploma qualifications. You will focus on fitness techniques, health, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, training, coaching and motivating people with the sector. This program replaces the Diploma in Applied Fitness. If you have partially completed the Diploma in Applied Fitness you will be able to transition onto this new qualification.

Through this program you will gain the skills and knowledge for entry-level positions in production and/or design roles within arts and design industries such as designers, technicians, machinists, or salespeople. All courses in this program are compulsory, so you are sure to gain a good broad understanding of arts and design. You will also get a taste of each of the areas you can specialise in if you go on to further study at NMIT. You will complete a Lab and a Project course for each of the following disciplines:
