This programme will assist practitioners in gaining advanced knowledge and skills to effectively manage the demands of rapidly changing, and increasingly complex health and social care practice environments.
What you will learn
There are three pathways for completing the master's:

• Research in practice
• Practice development
• Industry-based project

The focus of learning in the programme will include working reflexively with clients and communities within differing interprofessional collaborations and relationships. It will enable students to engage in transformative learning strategies that build on the strengths, knowledge, skills and relationships acquired as experienced practitioners. This practice-based learning approach will enhance students' ability to engage in future professional and work-related challenges.

Students studying the Bachelor of Communication at Wintec will learn to communicate effectively with flair. Working individually and in teams, they will hone their storytelling and analytical skills gaining industry-relevant skills and knowledge through hands-on, client-focused projects.

Introduced to both creative media and digital marketing, students develop their expertise in their chosen endorsement through project roles and elective choices, with the opportunity to further specialise in their third year.

Creative media 
Along with core communication skills, writing, multimedia storytelling, and basic digital marketing, students will develop further skills to be creative content producers. Students will learn:

• Media production and delivery
• Creative research and development
• Photography
• Video production

Students will generate dynamic, creative media solutions. They will produce a range of engaging content for delivery across a variety of platforms, that respond to a brief, and appeal to their intended audiences.

Studying this program, students will be equipped with the skills for a multi-media career in journalism or communications.

Students in this program will develop news sourcing, writing and publishing skills; as well as technical skills in photography and videography. Students will put these skills into practice publishing regularly in the Wintec online newspaper, The Waikato Independent, and through projects with industry.

Students in this program will learn theory and technical knowledge in a range of natural and physical sciences. Students will also learn a range of practical skills, laboratory methods, and the soft skills necessary for further studies in the field of science. Areas of study include chemistry, biology, microbiology, food nutrition, and environmental sciences.

This program is highly practical. Alongside learning theory, students will spend time in the laboratory developing the practical skills that are useful in the workplace.

Students in this program will learn the knowledge and skills to deliver quality information technology services and develop effective communication skills to support and enhance various organisations and industries.

Students can choose to specialise in one of the following five specialisations:

Network engineering
For those seeking a career in the field of network engineering, network administration, cyber and network security.

Software engineering
For those seeking a career in software engineering, software development, big data and analytics, mobile applications development, and software testing.

Web development
For those seeking a career in web design/development, web applications development, and mobile applications development.

The Bachelor of Nursing (Level 7) is the three-year degree qualification for those intending to become a registered nurse. After completing this degree, students sit the Nursing Council of New Zealand exam to complete their registration. There is a high demand for nurses both the Waikato, throughout New Zealand, and globally, and there are strong job outcomes for Wintec nursing graduates.

Students will extend their domain of practice through undertaking a body of sustained, independent research. This in-depth investigation is in the student's chosen area of communication, design, music or visual arts practice within a research-focused learning environment. The program will prepare students for high level investigation of, and intervention within their chosen academic or professional field.

Students in the Bachelor of Design programme will develop their creativity, innovation, and design capabilities to find new ways to visually and strategically solve challenges for brands and organisations.

Spatial design
Students will develop designs focusing on functional interior spaces and design fundamentals that span across both residential and commercial disciplines while learning the skills needed to thrive in the industry, including pitching to clients and overseeing a project from start to finish. They will learn:

• Design fundamentals for residential and commercial spaces
• People and communication skills to pitch to clients
• Construction knowledge and project management strategies

Architectural Technicians use their construction and drawing knowledge to make building designs become a reality.

They produce drawings and documents that enable pricing, consenting, and construction of domestic and commercial building projects. They also create architectural models and specifications and may be involved in administering construction contracts.

Students in this program will learn to prepare fully detailed drawings and specifications for the construction of buildings, both manually and using CAD packages.

Students will be equipped to work as an architectural technicians in small-to-medium-scale building projects.

After an additional period of suitable experience, students will be able to work on larger and more complex building projects.

What you will learn

Year one includes documentation for small buildings, materials and structural principles, construction for small buildings, feasibility and environmental impact.

Year two includes construction for medium and large buildings, design in the built environment, virtual design, and construction.

Students will study a range of modules that will teach them to:

• Research, prepare and communicate design and construction documents for small to medium scale projects
• Assist with researching, preparing and communicating design and construction documentation for large or complex building projects
• Assist with general practice management
• Demonstrate oral, oral, and written communication skills in both formal and informal styles
• Demonstrate social, legal and cultural contextual knowledge
