Environmental Technology
Environmental technology is about the science of conservation, biosecurity and environmental management. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as biosecurity officers who help manage pest animal and plant control, and help conserve local environments.

Students in this program will advance their ability to innovate in the workplace allowing them to immerse themselves into the enterprise environment and gain a postgraduate qualification whilst in employment. This program offers an accessible academic and professional career development opportunity in research and innovation at postgraduate level, relevant to all disciplines.

This program provides students with postgraduate study leading towards professional and higher academic practice. Students will learn within a research-focused learning environment, and will extend their domain of practice through research in their chosen area.

Students will extend their domain of practice through undertaking a body of sustained, independent research. This in-depth investigation is in the student's chosen area of communication, design, music or visual arts practice within a research-focused learning environment. The program will prepare students for high level investigation of, and intervention within their chosen academic or professional field.

Students in this program will learn the knowledge and skills to deliver quality information technology services and develop effective communication skills to support and enhance various organisations and industries.

Students can choose to specialise in one of the following five specialisations:

Database administration
For those seeking a career in database administration, data warehousing and business intelligence, and mobile applications development.

This program is designed for those who want to work with people learning English as a second or additional language. These programs are suitable for trained teachers as well as those with little or no teaching experience.

If students are currently teaching in primary, secondary, and tertiary education, they will be able to apply and integrate specialist knowledge and practical skills relating to teaching English to speakers of other languages to the students they teach.

Students will gain knowledge and practical skills relating to teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL) as well as the experience of applying and integrating these into particular teaching contexts. Students will gain knowledge of English linguistics, learners and language learning processes, and language teaching methodology. Students will also gain the experience of beginning to learn a new language and reflecting on their own language learning, and apply this experience to teach those who are learning English as a second or additional language.

Students in this program will learn the knowledge and skills to deliver quality information technology services and develop effective communication skills to support and enhance various organisations and industries.

Network engineering
For those seeking a career in the field of network engineering, network administration, cyber and network security.

Software engineering
For those seeking a career in software engineering, software development, big data and analytics, mobile applications development, and software testing.

Web development
For those seeking a career in web design/development, web applications development, and mobile applications development.

Quantity surveyors manage the finances of construction projects. A working day could include liaising with clients, industry professionals and site workers; measuring quantities of materials; estimating; preparing claims, cash flows and construction programmes, and much more.

Students in this programme will learn the practical skills for quantity surveying, including estimating and feasibility, quantification, pricing, and financial administration of a project during construction. With experience, students will be able to extend their work to include larger and more complex building projects and carry out tasks related to cost planning and financial control.

The Bachelor of Nursing (Level 7) is the three-year degree qualification for those intending to become a registered nurse. After completing this degree, students sit the Nursing Council of New Zealand exam to complete their registration. There is a high demand for nurses both the Waikato, throughout New Zealand, and globally, and there are strong job outcomes for Wintec nursing graduates.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Informatics program has been developed to meet increasing demand from industry and organisations for professionals with interdisciplinary knowledge and information management skills. This program provides a professional development pathway for graduates with a relevant degree. Students will learn about the social, cultural, and organisational settings in which information is used. Areas of specialisation could include e-commerce, strategic planning, organisational behaviour, and services management.

This programme is about the use of information systems as solutions in business environments. Students will learn how the analysis and implementation of information systems can deliver information to the right people in the most effective time and ways.

Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) is an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) degree. An ITE qualification is the requirement to become a beginning teacher in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Approved and monitored by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand, this degree is designed for those who would like to pursue a career as a qualified early childhood education teacher.
