Studying our MSc Pharmaceutical Science will expand your knowledge of the design, analysis and manufacturing processes of effective and safe pharmaceutical products.

As a BSc (Hons) Policing and Criminal Justice student at ARU, you’ll develop your knowledge and skills by studying real-life cases and academic research, and taking part in interactive learning.

You’ll debate the most pressing issues facing police forces today, including sexual offences, fraud investigation, counter-terrorism initiatives and cultural diversity. Many of our students choose to study law because they’re motivated by the idea of helping people. And so, from your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to work in our law clinics in Cambridge or Chelmsford. With support from qualified solicitors, you’ll advise members of the public on legal issues.

All this practical experience is, of course, backed up by classroom teaching. Our lecturers combine academic modules with those that focus on areas of professional practice, such as human rights law.

As you progress through the LLB (Hons) Law course, you’ll have the chance to take optional modules and explore areas of law that are of particular interest to you.

Our BA (Hons) Montessori Early Childhood Studies degree is the right course for you if you’re interested in working in a Montessori and early years context. This first of its kind, this course will develop your knowledge, enabling you to become a competent Montessori teacher.

You’ll explore the Montessori method of education, focussing on the three elements of the Montessori Dynamic triangle: the child, the environment and the teacher. We’ll work together to explore the Montessori materials and the presentations that support children’s learning and development, giving them opportunity for self-direction, while you guide them on their journey to self-discovery.

Focusing on Montessori’s own writings, you’ll study her own theories of the secrets of childhood and on the importance of supporting the child to reach their full potential.

You’ll learn from staff who are academics and qualified Montessori practitioners. During your studies you’ll reflect on child development, cosmic education, social justice, inclusion, you’ll develop your ability to critically reflect on experiences and will have a broad and balanced societal view supported by theoretical knowledge and research evidence.

Our one-year Top-up Degree combines university study with experience in practice with the support of Practice Assessors and Supervisors to enhance your knowledge of working and caring for people in the community.

In particular, you'll focus on population and caseload management; on supporting your patients to achieve and sustain independence; and on caring for those who are either unwell, recovering or at end of life.

As a district nursing student at ARU, you’ll explore how individuals and their families can care for themselves at home, enhancing people’s dignity and reducing hospital admissions. Designing and building structures like bridges, roads, airports and flood defences demands a high degree of technical skill. Our Civil Engineering BEng course will teach you to approach civil engineering projects competently, responsibly, ethically and safely.

Civil engineering changes our world – from buildings and transport to the environment and civil protection. It covers everything from creative concepts to physical construction and maintenance. Designing and building structures like bridges, roads, airports and flood defences demands a high degree of technical skill.

On our newly designed course your learning will be based around the civil engineering project and hands-on learning, giving you the chance to immediately apply the theory you learn in class to address the challenges of the project. You will learn how to carry out site investigations, select the best materials for the job, analyse and design structures and engineering systems, plan the construction process and assess and mitigate the environmental impact of the project using our specialist workshops and labs. You will learn how to carry out land surveys and use state of the art CAD systems and specialist software to design and analyse complex systems.

When studying our Civil Engineering course, you’ll learn a range of transferable skills, including how to manage projects and contracts; statistics; management techniques; and principles of IT, preparing you for industry work, advising clients, working closely with other engineers and stake holders. This course includes, at a subsidised cost, a week-long residential field trip to Constructionarium in the first year. Constructionarium is a hands-on construction experience for students; participants construct scaled down versions of bridges, buildings, dams and civil engineering projects from all around the world. The principle is to link academic institutes with industry and to ensure that you can apply your knowledge in a practical, safe and relevant environment.
