Our Primary Education Studies course is designed for those looking for a career working with children aged 3-12 and their families. It’s also a great option if you already work in education but want to learn more about the subject or progress in your career.

We focus on education history, policy and the way children are taught today. You’ll graduate with a thorough understanding of classroom management, lesson planning, National Curriculum subjects, and the three Key Stages in primary education. We’ll also touch on special educational needs provision.

Throughout the course there’s a strong focus on the core subjects that all primary-aged pupils study: reading, writing, maths and science. You’ll become familiar with teaching approaches and how to make adjustments to suit learners of all abilities.

Engineering is all about taking a product or system and looking at how it can be improved, whether it is in the development, processing, design, or even the materials used. Our new four-year MEng Additive Manufacturing Engineering degree course has been created with a focus on project-based learning, allowing you to take your in-class theory and apply it in a hands-on project module that will run throughout the year.

You will study alongside other students in the various areas of mechanical engineering, specialising in additive manufacturing in your final year and in certain modules throughout your course.

By studying our MEng Additive Manufacturing Engineering degree course, you will learn through a wide range of lab sessions, exploring manufacturing, 3D printing, thermodynamics, dynamics, and structural analysis so you can analyse, calculate, model, and experience your proposed concepts. As a part of your project-based learning you will undertake group work where you will be in a team of multi-disciplined students from across the different areas of mechanical engineering. You’ll benefit from using our workshop and laboratory facilities including CAD/CAM and engineering computer modelling centre, industrial-scale CNC milling and lathe machines, metal and plastic rapid prototyping machines, scanning electronic microscope, Instron bi-axial fatigue-testing machine, tensile-testing machine, material-preparation facilities, welding equipment, electronic testing and measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal-generating and testing facilities, wind tunnel, air compressors, steam engine and many more laboratory facilities used during course and in individual and group major projects.

Our newly redesigned Mechanical Engineering BEng degree course focusses on project based-learning, meaning you’ll apply your theoretical learning from class to a project-based module that runs throughout Year 1. You will gain experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team with other students from mechanical engineering courses, helping to prepare you for working in competitive commercial and industrial environments. While studying Mechanical Engineering at ARU, you will develop both your academic and practical skills, becoming an analytical and creative problem-solver, exploring how engineering works in the business context, and how to achieve results within financial constraints. You’ll use testing and measurement equipment, learn how to specify and design electronics subsystems and understand how to use computer-based and mathematical methods to model and analyse mechanical-engineering problems.

As well as the hands-on experience, you’ll benefit from lectures given by visiting engineers, ensuring you’re up-to-date with current methods in industry. You also have the option of doing a year-long placement in industry between years 2 and 3.

Caring for acutely ill adults is a demanding and important role, and we’ll help you develop the skills and expertise to practise effectively and compassionately. You’ll learn how to provide specialist clinical care while at the same time transforming your existing qualification/s into a BSc (Hons) degree.

Choose to study in Cambridge, Chelmsford or Peterborough, alongside other students with a particular interest in this area. It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other. Together, you’ll explore and apply the current policies, laws and procedures that affect the care of acutely ill adults. You’ll deepen your leadership skills, improve your decision-making, and increase your ability to support and develop others in their work. When it comes to work placements, you’ll need to be already employed in a suitable acute-care environment. Your manager should agree to offer supervision and mentorship so that your practice can be fully assessed.
