Do you aspire to work on magazines? This course will give you the best possible start on the road to success. It addresses subjects such as writing, subediting, production and design techniques, research skills and how to generate lively, interactive content for the web.

In an editorial team, you will produce two magazines and a magazine website and undertake a placement on a published title.

You will also have the opportunity to study magazine design, production, fashion and sport or data journalism. Finally, you will carry out a 12–15,000 word dissertation or a related practical project.

Taught by researchers, expert practising biomedical scientists and business managers, there is the opportunity to undertake a project with internationally-acclaimed research teams. This course offers key skills in pharmaceutical analysis, including measurement, scientific practice, evaluation and interpretation of data. You will study recent trends in analytical science and techniques and be introduced to pharmaceutical technologies, such as formulations and clinical pharmacokinetics. Through your research project, you will develop valuable research skills. Past projects have examined areas such as determining caffeine and its metabolites in human serum samples using GC-MS, and synthesis and use of compounds as probes for biochemical reactions.

You'll study civil engineering subjects, such as structures, hydraulics, geotechnics, construction materials, mathematics and surveying. You'll also study the design and construction of sustainable infrastructures, focusing on water engineering, transport, highway and the energy sector.

You'll work in specialist laboratories, including concrete, hydraulics, materials, soils and structures, and experience real-life scenarios through site visits and field trips.

Practical work includes surveying, model-making, engineering drawing and computer-aided design. You'll also gain skills in project and business management.

This course offers the knowledge and skills for designing, developing and operating secure IP-based networks. It offers practical skills in the specification, design, modelling and implementation of software and hardware. You will gain specialist knowledge of digital communications, multimedia communications, wireless networks and security issues. You will study the technologies of LTE and 5G wireless networks and the Internet of Things.

You can combine this course with management studies. The Management Studies pathway is ideal if you aspire to a management position in the industry. The aims of the course are to:

This course, one of a suite of digital media courses, enables you to study professional digital media practice in a microstudio environment with a focus on the programming skills necessary for the field of games development. Through a student-centred project-based curriculum, you will work as a games programmer to develop your specialist skills while working as part of an interdisciplinary team with students from across the full programme.
