This RICS accredited course reflects the real-world workings of the property and construction industries, preparing you for a career in property investment and development, property management or real estate management.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Develop a combination of technical knowledge and professional skills
• Study the planning, building, maintenance and day-to-day management of properties from domestic dwellings to full-scale industrial and commercial units
• Cover key topics including estate and property management; portfolio management; valuation for mortgages; negotiation for sale, purchase, leasing or auction; and the financial aspects of real estate, including the financing of real estate projects
• Explore the impact of urban and regional planning policies on property management
• Gain the skills to work with planners to enhance commercial development proposals within a given timescale and budget

Working closely with other built environment students, you’ll take part in projects that mirror the professional relationships you’ll experience in industry. This will develop your sense of identity as a property manager and provide you with an understanding of the role played by bankers, accountants, developers, surveyors and investors in the real estate industry.

Gain a thorough understanding of core business and management principles including strategic management and organisational analysis. You will develop your leadership, critical thinking and analytical skills to achieve specific business goals and respond to business-critical challenges.

The finance specialism will introduce you to the basics of organisational finance and how to use financial information to support business decisions.

• Study poems, plays and prose narratives in their historical and cultural contexts
• Discuss and debate the different ways texts can be interpreted
• Embrace a wide range of theoretical approaches
• Cover a diverse range of texts, from the literatures of Romanticism through to the contemporary, and British and American Literature of the twentieth century to the postcolonial literatures of the Caribbean, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia

As part of your course you’ll:

• Apply the fundamentals of design theory to game art and related visual media
• Develop practical 2D/3D visualisation and compositional skills
• Establish your practice in the form of a personal portfolio
• Understand the application of critical studies in relation to game art and what is required when working on the production of digital assets within game engine and visualisation technologies
• Undertake personal, detailed academic and practical research in relation to your specialised subject area
• Validate your creative process through your dissertation and portfolio of work

You’ll be given the chance to undertake an international volunteering placement in your second and third years. Previous students have volunteered in India, South Africa, Finland and the US, working with people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Understand the physical nature and behaviour of sound and use this to benefit audio production and performance
• Analyse how audio systems work
• Study a blend of engineering, acoustics, programming and electronics
• Apply your skills and knowledge to acoustic issues and technical requirements you’ll face in industry
• Learn to record live sound, digital broadcasts, studio and location sound and audio-visual applications
• Work across a variety of environments including live music events, studio sound and sound reproduction systems

You’ll practise using your knowledge to find solutions to audio engineering problems. For example, you’ll learn how to predict and reduce the acoustic impact of rail lines on nearby homes, and how to design a public address system to deliver a speech to thousands of listeners.
