BA Games Design

On this hands on course, you'll be making games with a mix of digital and paper prototyping and planning from week one. You’ll gain hands-on experience that will help you build your portfolio that will set you up for a successful career in a range of creative industries.

The games industry is complex, diverse and spans a variety of old and new technologies from print to computer software to 3D printed game pieces. This BA gives you the transferable skills and knowledge you need to become a successful games designer in this fast-changing industry.

he basis for a wide range of computer-based careers, computer science studies opens up opportunities across all sectors – from software development to systems engineering and everywhere in between. Our course helps you develop the skills, knowledge and experience that will attract employers and help you achieve your computer-based career goals. You also have the option of extending your studies to 4 years and gaining an MComp qualification.

You’ll gain an understanding of the key principles of computer science while you develop your programming, system engineering, and project experience skills. You’ll also get the support, encouragement and confidence to put your skills into practice through individual and group projects. Your first year will be entirely project led, ensuring you practice your skills from the very start.

In the past our students have worked on a project with the prestigious Pink Shoe Club , creating prototypes for a unique digital self-assessment tool.

Build your computer science skills

• You’ll have the opportunity to take a year-long, paid work experience placement as part of a four-year study path. Placements are subject to availability of employer organisations and opportunities may be limited as a result of Covid-19. We’ll also give you access to industry professionals and work experience opportunities to help you further develop your professional skills.
• We ensure you get the skills, knowledge and experience that will help you launch a successful computer-based career.
• We’re in the process of gaining BCS (British Computer Society) accreditation for our computer science degrees, which means you’ll be able to gain BCS membership once it’s awarded.

• Our modules are specifically designed to give all the tools you’ll need to succeed in an international business career. Many of our modules are work placement based to help integrate your knowledge with work from the very start, without having to extend your studies by a year.
• During these modules, you’ll create and develop a personal development portfolio which will include your CV and covering letter, applications, and records of how you secured your work experience. You’ll get a chance to review your skills critically, identifying areas of success and improvement.

MA Graphic Design explores the ever-changing landscape of graphic design to build critical understanding, individual design thinking processes, practical experience and insightful design solutions. The course offers areas of specialism in typography, branding, editorial and book design, social enterprise and digital interactive experiences.

We take a problem-solving approach to graphic design to explore contemporary practice through design thinking, insight and co-design processes, prototyping ideas, and building expert collaborative networks with external partners.

We are a diverse collective, working across project areas of typography & information, brand identity & campaigns, new technology & digital experiences, design writing & insight analysis, sustainability & environmental issues, structural packaging and book design.

Based in the Grove, our £80 million Arts and Creative Industries building, and taught by some of the UK's leading practitioners from a range of disciplines, our course features world-class facilities and specialist workshops fitted with both new and traditional equipment, and these will be part of our blended learning approach available where possible. With opportunities to build industry contacts and exhibit your work externally, you'll also gain the employability skills, exposure and experiences you need to navigate a successful career path in today's competitive creative industries.

Course Highlights

During the foundation year you will learn how computers are used by a broad range of people and organisations as well as acquiring fundamental software development skills and knowledge of hardware. You also gain relevant mathematical and statistical skills and develop useful communication skills.

BSc Computer Science

If you want to learn how businesses work and how to manage people, then this is the degree for you. You’ll learn about the theory and practice of how businesses operate and what their environments are like. You’ll also study a variety of management styles, alongside the law and practices related to managing people.

You’ll be supported by a team of tutors who have industry experience. You will be exposed to key HR practices such as hiring practices, HR law, the ethics of employment and other abilities you'll need during your career.

You’ll undertake a work placement so you can apply your skills to a live work setting. Using our industry connections, we'll help you find a role in the HR team of a top company, in an industry relevant to your interests. You can do this over the course of a year or over two summers. Past students have done placements with the NHS, The Walt Disney Company, and Hays Recruitment.

Develop your business and human resources skills

• Developing the essential skills and knowledge to succeed in business management, you will focus on modules such as strategic management, leadership, and business development.
• You’ll build your key business skills with us, including workshops, role-plays and discussions as you analyse case studies and business management practices.
• We also ensure that you build your specialist knowledge and the ability to deal with stakeholders, business resourcing and process, as well as understanding strategy, production and distribution of products and services.
• Our graduates have gone on to successful careers all over the world. Using the knowledge and skills learned with us they've started jobs in companies across the world, including places like Western Union, Emirates and Santander.

Through two compulsory modules you will focus on Strategic Management and, Leadership and Management Development. You will also choose one option from: Service Encounter; Facilitating Creativity in Business; Managing Individual and Organisation Change; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; and also choose either an internship or research project.

The Foundation Year in Performing Arts is taught in our excellent studios and facilities at our Hendon campus by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses. You are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures.

BA Dance Practices

Our Dance Practices degree presents a vibrant curriculum that prepares you for a versatile, lifelong career in the dance and creative industries. Our diverse team of industry experts and professional artists will support you in tailoring this dance degree to suit your individual interests.

The course is specifically created to help draw out your passions and interests across the field of dance within the arts and creative industries. This may be dance science, dance education, choreography, dance writing, and so many more. You'll gain an in-depth knowledge of dance practice alongside transferable skills that will allow you to pursue diverse career avenues in the creative fields. It’s a highly individual course with the freedom to tailor the final year’s contents to your interests, strengths, and passions.

The course offers two distinct exit awards in Choreography and Dance Science.

We give you the opportunity to explore specialist subjects to study in-depth while facilitating collaborative opportunities with students from related courses.

Put your knowledge into practice
Our course promotes your comprehensive knowledge of dance practices and the contemporary, historical and diverse cultural contexts in which it is practiced and produced. We strongly believe in applying everything you learn into practice and that’s why you will receive practical training, taught by highly experienced artists.

You'll develop your professional skills through examining, reflecting and engaging in industry-focused projects as well as exposure to related creative disciplines. We provide performance opportunities in our state of the art facilities, which include four fully equipped dance studios, plus a specialist dance theatre, and through our strong artistic relationships with external professional venues. The campus is located close to central London, so you’ll be near the most exciting cultural events in the country.

There are a wide range of opportunities for you once you graduate across the creative industries. Previously, graduates have worked with some of the best dance companies in the UK and further abroad, while others go on to work in choreography, arts administration jobs in world renowned organisations, teaching in the private and public sectors, and further study.
